.....without damaging anything. 308QV timing drive shaft. New keys are REALLY tight, I've tried large channel locks with wood in the jaws-but can only get them halfway in...I'm hoping the answer isn't "start squeezing tennis-balls". Thanks much, Greg

The new key might need a bit of fitting with a file or a sheet of fine emery cloth.

Yep, I would file a little at a time till it fits snug. :):)

Ive had to do it before. Must be poor machining as I have ordered new genuine replacement woodruff keys in the past and some would fit and some wouldnt.:rolleyes:

Some light filing would always sort it out. And would also waste an hr of my time. :D:D

There is a lubricant out now that uses a Ice Cold lube to expand the metal enough to get lubricant where you need it.I saw it on The Show Called GEARZ the Spike Network.Might be what you need,The host said O'Riely's Auto parts carrys it.

That's why they pay you the "big money" ;)

A key doesn't have to be a "press-fit", only snug. You might need to remove it someday.

I always skim the sides of a key with a fine file if it's being stubborn. Not too much though, you don't want it sloppy.

As for it being a cheap part, it is, but a critical one!
