This is a different kind of "belt service" question... :)

When I bought my 348, someone had put these cheesy simpson belts in. First thing I did when I got home is cut them out and throw them away. One problem: Now I only have shoulder belts. I was going to buy some after market lap belts, but wasn't sure how I even go about installing them. Do you take the seats out? If so, does anyone know how?

    Thanks guys!

Are you sure your lap belts have actually been removed? The retractor assembly bolts onto the underside of the seat frame, it might still be there. You have to remove the seat to check, there is one allen head bolt at each end of the two rails, total of four. Easy to do with the proper tool.

Jeff, no way to check even with a mirror and flashlight?

You can check by the blind feel your way through if the retractors are there. The drivers retractor is located upfront on the right side as you are sitting in the seat and the opposite for the passenger side. But that is only part of the answer. You have to unbolt and remove the seat to weave the seat belt back through to the side of the seat by also removing the cover that is on the left of the seat as you are sitting on the seat. Unbolt the front and back allen head bolts and check, don't mix up the front and back bolts they are different due to head height, if you mix them up and use the front bolts in the back holes the seat will not move back. If you need new retractors you can have SSnake Oyl supply new retractors for both side for about $300. They just did mine and they did a great job complete bolt in to the factory plate. Hopefully you have the metal plate that the retractors bolt to if the previous owner removed the retractors.

No. But smoke & mirrors together will work.
