Hi all, looking to buy a 360 3 pedal Spider or Modena, late '01 to '04, in the process trade/sell my '94 Viper RT/10 Roadster (pic/info). So I wanted to post some of the info here and find out if you guys think my numbers are feasible. I'm thinking low $30's high $20's for the Viper and low $60's for the 360? Do you think the numbers work? Any advise? The high $20's apply more towards a dealer trade & low $30's for a private sale, (taxes). I know that low $60's Ferrari number will probably get me a higher mileage car, and I am fine with that as long as the maintenance was done and they have the records and that it wasn't an accident/flood/rebuild car.

Here are the details on the Viper;
1994 Dodge Viper RT/10 Roadster, red with gray leather, 39k miles, a/c, carbon wrapped dash, short throw shifter, chromed 3 spoke wheels, chrome emblems, K&N air filters with smooth air intake tubes, Northwind Engineering sliding and lockable side windows and carbon fiber hardtop, trunk mounted cd changer. Stock except for the aforementioned. Non smoker, accident free, well maintained & stored in a climate controlled garage. I've owned it for 13 years. The car is truly a lot of fun and a great car.

Thanks!

You are way off -- low $60s for a 3 pedal 01 is not enough -- more like low to mid $70s and this would have to be a private sale as dealer prices will be higher. To get a low $60s car it would more than likely have some sort of history and/or very high (over 40k) miles.
The first one sold for close to asking and the second one for asking (with belt service).

He may find a Modena for mid 60's with higher mileage but no way a Spider manual. Thing is you need to add a $10K reserve to whatever you buy the car for just in case, even a "perfect" car is never really perfect. If he said he was looking for a car to track I would point to that $45K salvage car, add a CS TCU, and head to the track! :D

Maybe, but I think they might be out there, (or close to it):

Ferrari 360 Spider Convertible 2 Door | eBay

Ferrari 360 | eBay

Oh, and you second example is not a stick. :)

Please fill out your profile rookie!

The blue car you posted above moved around a little. It was listed for sale in July from Auto Agent Sales LLC in West Palm Beach Florida for $69,900. MG must have got it from them and listed it on Ebay. I had notes that it was a one owner car with a question mark so at any rate, high mileage, blue dash but looks like a great deal. MG must have known they could turn it quick for a little profit. What do you guys think they made on the deal? <10K? or are they affiliated with this Florida shop?

OP, I will bump my pricing thread for you to get up to speed on the asking prices this year for gated manual modenas.

John, you might want to include a 1999 3-pedal 360 (no pre-cats) to your search criteria.

Good-luck.

The viper might be a little optimistic. As much as I love those cars, especially the gen 2, they are sale-proof. Best of luck with the search

That spider sold for a lower price due to silver exterior/red interior, no service records, and still wasn't "low $60's." The blue one is a 1999 with higher mileage, and again not "low $60's."

I think everyone above is correct. You're not going to find a very nice 2001+ for low $60's.

a little discouraging for OP. I think if OP is willing to wait a little, he may be able to find one with high mileage (as per his criteria) for a little more.
Good luck.

Thanks all, all good stuff, one more thing, would this be a better possibility; negotiating a price down from high $60's to mid $60's? Or do these cars normally get the asking price?

That car is hot. If you are into it make sure you get the size of the seat from the owner. Those very desirable and rare seats come in 3 sizes. If you are slight of build it wont matter but if you are a big dude the smalls might not work out.

It looks like it needs service but I only glanced. A lot of people prefer this since you can start to build the relationship with the mechanic of your choosing and will have the confidence that the work was done. It's also very telling that they guy is saying it's OK to talk to the mechanic and the owner seems like my kind of guy since he made an Enzo key for the car and still has the original wheels to go with new buyer.

I gotta say you may not be ready for a Ferrari yet, at least not a 360. If you are concerned about talking down an asking price a couple of thousand I think you may be too budget minded at present to be happy. Or you will make the bigger mistake of not being a responsible caretaker of the car and giving it what it needs. Ferrari ownership needs to be a special thing, so much of your life needs to be in place to get the most out of it.

Here's a test. Look at the most expensive copy (or darn near) of the model you are contemplating on the market. If you can afford THAT car, without messing up your life, then you are ready. Because all it takes are a few surprises and your 70k car could be 95K.

I don't think it's that, I think most people have a range that they are comfortable with, give or take, and that's that. I might be spoiled because after 13 years of Viper ownership, nothing has broken, so yes I wouldn't be used to high repair bills, that was taken into consideration as well.

I'm not sure if looking at the most expensive copy and seeing if I can afford that is good advice, there is a 360 on ebay right now for $160k, I'm not sure people that bought 360's in the $60k & $70k range were contemplating $160k, I might be wrong, have been in the past, a few time, like wanting low $30's for a Viper and buying a 360 for low $60's, lol! :)

I think it's going to be tough getting a stick or a spider that's been recently serviced and documented in the 60's honestly.. Remember buying an inexpensive Ferrari, usually becomes a very expensive Ferrari. Better off paying up first when you purchase it, you don't want to bargain shop these cars. Just my advice.

Kevin is not talking about a CS for cost. Listen to the advice here, it is right on.
You are looking at a $55-60K difference, between what your Viper gets
you and what a nice 360 at your specs with $$ reserves will set you back.
Do you have this and are you comfortable with that ?

Some new owners have only had to do fluid changes in 2 years, others like
a recent poster here, has had another failure on his fourth drive of the car.
Yes, fourth drive. Not the norm, but it can happen.

The prior owner of my car spent over $16K on the car the year before selling
to me, no failures, just a lot of deferred maintenance, clutch, brakes, water
pump, tires, etc. It can add up real fast, you need to be mentally prepared
as well as financially ready to write checks as needed.

Good luck and don't turn into another "Proof" .

That looks like one of the "too good to be true" cars. I mean it has nice color combinations, 6 speed, CF racing seats, Challenge grilles, even an Enzo key. If it's the mileage I am shocked that it dropped the price that much. It should be more like $71k or $72k. If the PPI checks out I would strongly urge the OP to jump on it as I don't think he is going to find a better one south of $70k.
Just my opinion. I paid almost that much for an F1 without all the options and 25k miles.

He's asking $70K...$71K or $72K is a meaningless difference, no?

Do take a look at my thread that I bumped for you "Gated Manual Modena Market".
The 160K 360's are Challenge Stradale Editions. They don't come in manual trans. They are very light but have the dreaded flappy paddle computer aided shifting actuator thingy to help those challenged drivers shift better. Or maybe its so they can run faster lap times at the ring...I forget! :) Just kidding stockpro and co. LOL

EDIT: I reread the ad and I think all the service is fresh so this is almost too good to be true! The seller is faced with it sitting until spring if it doesn't go. But it does look very nice indeed! Silver was my first choice for a color but it wasn't meant to be.

Here's the details: (the guy really drove the car, it would be worth talking to him about it)

I am the fourth owner and took delivery of the car April 2014. Please see the details below and if there is anything don't hesitate to email me at the address below.

• Mileage: Just under 32,000 and I purchased it at 27,734 and that is when all work was completed
• Front and Rear Challenge Grills
• Professionally installed 19” rims which I believe to be Fiske wheels, prior owner had them installed
• OEM 360 5 star wheels with original rubber
• Scuderia Shields on front fenders
• Black Leather interior with red stitching with Carbon fiber seats (medium size)
• Factory red Cavallo mats (black with Red horse, also have custom aftermarkets that I actually use)
• All three keys
• All books/manuals
• All tools
• 3 peddles (clutch feels good no slip)
• Professionally installed High Flow Cats made by Hyperflow with OEM muffler... sounds great
• Sony aftermarket CD deck
• Additional radio surround for Dash
• Some of the plastics have been refinished to remove tackiness
• Professionally painted Front bumper and looks flawless
• Full inspection done by Ferrari Certified Mechanics (IFS) Independent Ferrari Service in South Easton, MA
(full inspection report is available if you want it) *I’m also confident they wouldn’t mind speaking about it
too, very nice crew*
• All work recommended by IFS was done including belt change and oil/fluids change to make sure everything
is where it needed to be…a handful of other things done as well.
• All Campaigns/Recalls have been completed on the car by Ferrari Certified Mechanics
• Book of all receipts since purchase
• Car Assembly Number is 35384

Here's a tidbit.. the third one down (Used Ferrari 360 For Sale - USA - CarGurus). See that little red start/stop button? That's NOT factory OEM. When you see **** like that on these cars click the "next" button. To do that they had to muck with the electrical system. Anytime that gets mucked with by some guy it's going to mean a lot of headaches for you. Pass on cars like that. (Though I don't like customization personally..)
