The other day I was being introduced to some new people, and one of my friends introduced me as "the Ferrari nut." I was at a concert last weekend and a friend of mine asked me if I knew that Ferrari made cologne because she knew what a Ferrari lover I am. I've also been called obsessed countless times in the past few weeks.

This got me thinking. It hasn't been that long since I've really been interested in Ferraris, but no one would make any comments like that when I was a fan of another car/manufacturer. Maybe my love of Ferrari is stronger and therefore easier to detect.

On a scale of 1-10, how obsessed would you say you are? Also, what kinds of interesting things have your friends, family, or even people you've just met said or done about to your love of Ferrari?

I would say I'm about a 7 or an 8. It's hard for me to imagine that I could get any worse, but everytime Carbon makes a post, it make me realize that there are bigger Ferrari fanatics than me. :)

    I think Carbon is actually a 12 or 13.

Well, I had to think about how I was going to answer my own question for a few minutes, but right now I'd probably be around a 7.

On the Tifosi scale, I think I am about a 6. Mike is right, people like Carbon make me seem not very enthused.

On the subject of how others see it, well, I dont really think my friends or family get my obsession, they think its weird and unacheibable for me to get an F-car. Think what they want I guess.

I would have to say I'm probably an 8. Many people also call me the Ferrari nut and such other names. Everyone I know knows that my love for Ferrari only comes second to family and a certain someone...but even she thinks she comes after Ferrari. She always asks me dumb questions like..."if you could have that car but not me what would you choose?" Of course the answer is her but she doesn't believe me half the time. Oh well she learned to cope with my addiction.

I'd probably say 9-10, most of my friends are not really car nuts let alone know anything about Ferrari so not many people besides my parents and just a couple of friends know.

My wife hates my car for the attention and money I spend on it.

Gawd, I'm going to miss her.

    I'm probably a 7 to 8 so 7 1/2 then.
My passion towards it is unbelievable to my friends and they call me loads and loads of names associating with Ferraris!
The bond between myself and my ferraris is beyond some people's imagination!

Definitely a 10. I go absolutely nuts. I wept for almost an hour when I lost my opportunity to see a 360 and Gallardo, no joke. So my mom promised me that NO MATTER WHAT I would be able to go next time - this is the only time she has ever promised me something no matter what.
And my roommate keeps yelling at me to stop looking at cars and look at girls on the computer.

I'm not sure about a rating, but put it this way - I spend more time reading/watching/talking about Ferraris than anything else besides sleeping and working (which sometimes includes visits to FChat). :)

I will drive a long way to see a Ferrari, and still get excited about seeing one and being able to take photos of it for my website. :)

I would say a 6 for Ferraris. Other than Ferrari, my passions include my family, and the Hurricanes football team.

2 for regular cars...they're appliances. 4 for special cars such as my last vintage Corvette. 5+ for my Ferrari/Ferrari in general..not an obsession or lifestyle but a love and very keen interest...nothing like the vintage 12's, before or since.

Responses from non-automotive friends, acquaintances, and family members range from tepid to "cool car, can I have a ride?", which I always give.

I break it down like this:

    (1) An easy ten (10) for my 308.

    (2) A nine (9) for the 1960-1990 model cars.

    (3) A seven (7) for the newer models. They just don't boil my blood like the 512s, 275s, 250, TRs and 308/328 series' do.

EDIT: Failed to mention how others see me. Co-workers think it's cool. Soldiers have said how they like the cavallino rampante on my helmet. My call-sign's now "Higgins," too. My battalion commander asked me to take his 12 year old daughter to her soft-ball game since she's a car nut. Our senior instructor pilot and I have become great friends due to a mutual interest; he bought a 92 NSX around the same time I bought my Si. Overall, the response at work has been great.

My wife knew going into our marriage that I was a tifoso. She says there's worse things on which I could spend money. Her opinions have varied with each of three different F-cars we've had/have; she did not like the 77 B, loved the Mondi 8 and, now, likes the 81 Si because of the Spyder option.

I would definately say on a scale from one to 10, I'm a 10^infinite degree.

Most people know me as not only the Ferrari guy, but the exotic car guy. Anytime one of my buddies see's anything remotely exotic, especially Ferrari related he calls me just to let me know what he saw.

I've been a Ferrari Nut since I was 3 years old and a neighbor rolled by in his new Testarossa. Somehow even at that young I knew it wasn't just a car, it was something more. Hell, my mom even questions me about Ferrari's when she thinks she's seen one. Sometime's she even gets the car right, which really amazes me.

I don't agree. I'm a sports car lover and my current car is a Lotus. People might call me obscessed with it; I give myself an 8. I have a Lotus coffee cup, and my email is my license: Lotush. But it would be that with any car. If I had a Ferrari, it would be the same. Maybe then people would say I'm a CAR nut and not a Lotus/Ferrari/Whatever nut.

    LOL, you guys are funny...

    i think i'd have to go with a 10...

ALL of my friends are into Ferraris - ALL of them. And what that means is, i don't have any friends who AREN'T into Ferraris...

There's a prancing horse tattooed on my chest...

    My job is Ferrari-related...

i have enough Ferrari-related shirts to last me a week... Two of them even have 134282 on them...!!!

i have 26 Ferrari models on my desk at work, a third of which are 1:18...

Once or twice a month, professional car brokers call or email me to find out information on Enzos...

There's a prancing horse tattooed on my chest...

i have shields on the fenders of my car...

i've driven more Ferraris than some of the owners here...

i carry around a picture of 134282 in my wallet...

i keep a list in my wallet of the three Ferraris that were stolen in the US in 2003 and were never recovered...

The first three letters of my alphabet are ZFF... :)

More people know me as "NNO" than as Carbon McCoy...

There's a prancing horse tattooed on my chest...

Maybe people just didn't notice my interest in other cars because I wouldn't show it so much. A lot of people know that I like Porsches, a lot, but they very rarely, if ever, make any comments about it.

It could be the group of people I associate with too.

Interesting. Its things like that, and people like you, who make car thieves lay awake at night and sweat. I wouldnt mind having that list, maybe you should put it up on Fchat. Maybe Fchat should have a stolen cars area???????
