Just curious to see how people deal with others following them home when driving an Fcar. I recently moved to a house from a condo and can see this being an issue. I know most people are harmless and just interested in seeing the car.

    Thanks.

If your being followed, just stop at a store near you, if they are enthusiasts they will present themselves and you can have a nice chat. Definately someplace public.

While not an F car, once in my 2000 Cobra R some kids followed me home, so as I got out of my car they pulled in, asking me about my car, and if I lived there. I said no, just seeing if my friend was home. I rang the doorbell twice, turned to them and said "oh well, he must not be home." and proceded to leave and go for a spin around the block while the kids left.

Yeah, don't go home in that situation. They may want to see where the car is kept and try and steal it sometime later. I would take them on a circular goose chase to determine for sure they are following and not just going the same way. (Usually people break off at some point) Once you confirm being followed, I would go someplace public and probably call the police on the way if they keep following. Sorry but, it is not cool to follow someone around too long even if your just curious about the car. Taken too far, it becomes very suspicious and alarming to me.

Being a cop myself, even I take precautions in situations like this. Having a badge and gun takes the sheer terror out of this kind of situation but it's still an adrenaline rush and something to not take lightly.

    Good luck and be safe.

Being followed..pull into the nearest police station. I don't even keep my car at home. When the neighbors see me with it they think its a friends car I am working one.

That's what I do when I feel a suspicious car is following. Make a few extra turns until they're no longer following.

    Has never happened to me.

However, if I would notice someone obviously following me I would not drive home but detour to my close by police station or other very public place, stop, wait to see what they do and then go the opposite direction.

It's never happened to me in over 25 years of ownership. If I felt it was, 911 would be my next call.

Happened to me the other day. Guy followed me for about 20 minutes. The whole time I was like WTF?

I'm thinking "this is a good way to get shot".

I pulled in a gas station and the guy drove off.

    I would never follow someone.

It can be terrifying and I've done what others have said above. Drive to the nearest police station or straight into a gas station and get out the cellphone. By that time I'm steaming and just want their plate number.

I've had this a few times, just drive past home and carry on, find a nice bit of road, and floor it. Not many people try too hard to keep up if you drive like you know what you are doing! Once I've lost em, i can go home. Can't be too careful, not every criminal in the uk is a cheeky chappy loveable rogue, there are evil ones too

Not in a Fcar but when my car was new and shiny and the car to have, I been followed a few times.

I always start doing laps around a block, by the 2nd lap they usually get the message I'm on to them and they stop.

Tho this one time I noticed this car do a u-turn to follow me so I raced away... under cover cops lol. They let me off with a warning

Driving to the police station makes a lot of sense.
A location like a gas station that has security cameras more so.
Getting out at the lights and snapping photos of a determined tail equally so along with notes of time, duration, place ect.

The only comfort regarding thieves is secondary to the nature of thier activity; the behaviour is cowardly & opportunistic.

You tube content seems to indicate commercial drivers now often record constantly as a buffer against potential incidents & litigation. Which makes me think a 'following cam' probably not all that difficult. Very discreet & a permanent record. As the technology improves so quickly the images & resolutions become more forensicly detailed.

As a concept, security is always layered. Gates, fences, locks, alarms, security cameras, remote monitoring, surveilance ect.

My security is delightfull, big dogs who bark little but bite lots; no questions, no dialouge.

    Catch as catch can.

Only been followed home once....Also by an LEO.....Followed me all the way from a local minimart to my driveway. Just wanted me to lift the engine cover so he could get a good look at the redhead 12cyl in my 86 TR. A good guy but i did find the experience a little unsettling. It seems that a lot of officers are gearheads who enjoy exotics almost as much as we do.

If someone is following you, just duck into a neighborhood and loop back out. They generally won't follow you.

If they continue to follow you, just pull over, stop and wait for them to go past you.

Tended to happen a lot when I owned a rosso scuderia car. Nobody seems to notice the black cars.

My buddy has a black Diablo VT and was almost home when he looked in the mirror to find a cop car following. We know how we all feel when that happens. Fortunately when he turned into his driveway the car continued on.

After a few minutes his doorbell rang and he noticed at least two patrol cars out front. A handful of officers were at the door asking "can we see your car?"

Needless to say they got the royal treatment and really enjoyed their visit in the garage!!

What I find complete BS about this is that the LEO might not mean anything by his actions, and be genuinely interested in the car...but if he wasn't an LEO there is no way he would be so ballsy to just walk up to someone at their home and ask to see it.

I know these guys have a dangerous underappreciated job in our society, but sometimes what they consider a perk of the job is just wrong (such as doing whatever rude thing they want while in uniform and citizens just have to smile and take it).

If presented with that situation at the wrong moment I might confirm I had not done anything wrong then tell them to hit the bricks. But then I'M THE JERK.

I love people intersted in things I collect enough to follow me home. I would pull in my garage and show them my Ferrari diecast collection, and then I would show them my gun collection, my ammo collection, and my locked and loaded gun collection.

I posted a while back in another thread about how I accidentally made a Ferrari owner uncomfortable. I had pulled into a parking lot (a company parking lot, not his house) to take a picture of the white 458 that was parked there. He sent someone out to ask me to leave.

So anyway, with that being said... I would NEVER follow someone (even before that previous incident occurred). I would consider that to be super creepy and I wouldn't be surprised if they called the cops or pulled over and got very angry with me.

Seems like common sense to me.

P.S. I would do as others said: Just drive around the the block a few times. If that doesn't get the point across then pull into a public, busy gas station or something.

Although I agree you should never follow someone, you guys are pretty hilarious.

You make it seem like they're trying to kill you or steal your car... Calm down. They're most likely just enthusiasts who want to talk to you about your car. This is the side of F-Car owners I don't like. Thinking that other people are inferior to them/thinking they're "bad" people you should stay away from and go as far as drive by a police station.

    Stupid.

It's usually some young guy in a mustang.

I'll put this out for the universe to make reality: This silver 323 convertible kept following me on the drive home. I tried to shake them but the slow minivans blocked me. I decided to do the "visiting friends trick" and pulled into my driveway. Sure enough the BMW pulled behind me and blocked me in the driveway. Two maybe 20-ish women clad in bikini's jumped out and said to me "can we check out your car" I said "sure" and they hopped in the seats and ran their hands over the soft, smooth leather of the interior. I asked if they wanted to model on the hood and each took their turn while I snapped pictures....

    Ahh. if only. ;-)
