yes sir. place a single jack under the rear subframe and lift.... Insert both stands at the rear points and lower the car onto them... THEN place the jack BEHIND the front passenger wheel (the jack point is basically under the car lined up with your side mirrors)... jack that side up, insert jack stand and lower the car onto that stand. Repeat on the other side. ** I would loosen your lug nuts BEFORE you put the car in the air to make removal of the wheels easier but that is totally upto you. ** The whole process should take you no longer than 15 minutes.... Good luck
Thanks Pete. And thanks for the reminder to break the lug bolts free ahead of time...I always do, but don't always remember ;-)
Well my new stands are not here yet but I needed to play a bit..... I did what Pete (bobzar) suggested and put the jack on the rear lift point and raised one side of the car. I was pretty surprised how both front and rear wheels come off the ground almost exactly the same distance. Hopefully my new stands come tomorrow so I can get it up in the air. Thank you all for your input. I'm forever learning and I appreciate your suggestions and experience.
Ok guys, so I just did this. Not too proud to admit that I was nervous.... Thanks for all the help. I did what Pete had suggested....used rear jack point, then put a stand in the front and rear then repeated on other side Image Unavailable, Please Login
There you go, easy as can be. Go back to each side and get it as high as you can, remove the under trays and then lie under there for an hour or so soaking it in, that's what I did the first time I had it up in the air.
I've always had a fear for jack stands. Not sure why, I've never had a bad experience. My Dad is very wise and safe and he thought me when I was young to always put the wheels or blocks under the car in case something went wrong. I'm going to make some blocking and then do what you say. I won't be laying underneath until then. Thanks again for the help!
Dave and Pete: thanks for posting these pics. Very helpful. I have never used that location behind the front wheel for jackstands before. How much of that area is safe for supporting the car?
If you look at the under skin drawing (Ricambi site) you will see the frame structure and that's a safe place. I wish jack stands where just flat plates though...the stupid bumps etc they put on them are useless and can hurt you since the load would be on the bumps and could leave an impression (why I used the thick rubber pads between then and the car)
I feel the same way. I don't know why they can't build a Ferrari with the ground clearance of my 4 wheel drive Toyota truck. Anyway, what are you going to do under there?
Lol John, I'm happy with the ground clearance. Just don't like bumps on jack stands. I'm pulling off the wheels, cleaning backside, removing old weight glue, cleaning wheel wells, installing yellow calipers, detailing underside of car. Yes, I have extreme OCD!
