Should I buy this one!! If PPI says its OK. Does this carfax look typical. http://motorcars-of-georgia.ebizautos.com/detail-1990-ferrari-348-ts-1517517.html Does # of owners matter? Does car being at an auction in its lifetime matter? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Not sure if you have seen the car in person. It's nice but not perfect. The interior looks better in the pics than in person. The center console is stick and peeling. All in all a nice car though. They came down to 53K when i looked at it, i think its a little high
They've come down from $53k to $50k. Offer something like $45k and see what happens. That's about what I did. Your paying a premium for the low mileage. They can't keep chasing away serious buyers. Bee Jay
Yep, low mileage is a problem. Always makes me wonder if the car was unloved and undriven. Howtheheck does a car get to be 15 years old and driven only 100mi. per month? I'd subtract something for that.
I own a 1992 348 TB Series Speciale with only 11,500 total miles. The previous drivers did not drive it much. I have put 1900 miles on it in 15 months and will continue to do the same. Its a great car. Darryl
This car was discussed in another thread and I remember one sharp poster pointed out that the engine compartment lid near the rear window was painted red on this car. The poster pointed out that it should be black. So questions came up as to why it is now red, whether it is due to collision damage or if a previous owner thought it looked better red and had it painted. No huge issue if it was just a cosmetic "upgrade" by a previous owner, but if it is a collision repair then you want to know about that.
Is there a documented 30K service within the last 2-3 years? Was the 30K service comprehensive? If the answer to either of these questions is "no", then that car is worth about $43K. I'll go out on a limb here and predict that it hasn't had a 30K service in at least 10 years, if ever. Now, the dealer will rah-rah about how it's had a recent service, but I predict the papers ain't there to support it. Just my gut.
I agree that it's important to find out what "recent" is. Recent in terms of mileage could be several years ago. They're due every 5 years regardless of mileage. Should be recent in terms of time on a car with this low mileage.
