Hey group, A few weeks ago I posted a few photos of my '89 t coupe with a custom wheel choice I installed. I had quite a few great comments on how the choice looked in my amateur photos. Now... Here is a even better look with these pro photographs. Enjoy: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A huge, white sheet of paper. Diffused lighting & reflectors. Most likely some digital touch-ups as well but that's just a guess.
Very nice pictures. Looks good for catalogue. But rims is really a little bright, draws our attention to it than the car.
Lovely looking car, great colour.. but have to agree with earlier post that wheel 'brightness' draw your eyes away from the body. IMHO I'd say for this subtle colour, six or eight spokes in gunmetal? Anyone?
This was a studio shot. Lighting, and background effects were used. It took several hours. There was no need to touch up though. Thank you. As for the wheels. I thought about gunmetal wheels... However, I was looking to brighten the look. I figured that a sinister dark look was just not what I was looking for in a class act touring car like the Mondial t coupe. So... I went with the same look that the Ferrari Formula One team has had on their car.
i like the car and the wheels, is that okay with you? seriously, i also like the prugna color, rare and classy. what color is your interior though? i seem to remember that all prugna painted cars came with a differnt color than yours? am i daft or just off base?
Hmmmm... I would have figured that you could order any color leather you were willing to pay for, but I would not be surprised if you could only order it per factory spec. My example came with Crema leather. It is very lite, and has great contrast with the black leather bits and Prugna carpets. Here is a photo - and thank you. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You betcha Dane. I more than like it, I am bananas over it. Perhaps to the point of showing heavy enthusiasm When I 1st got on board here at F-chat I think that the Mondial series was poked in the eye one too many times (for my taste). I have done what I can to show these forums that Mondials do look & perform (and then some) just as fabulous as some of the more main stream models. So... When I get a chance to show the masses something like this, I do so looking to educate & gather more fans. I have been told that I am doing a heck of a job! I think I will go pack the Wife, Son # 1, Son #2, some lawn chairs, snacks, golf clubs, a dinner basket, bat/ball/mitt, blanket & some drinks etc. in the thing & make a day of it!
I'm usually not crazy about chrome wheels on a Ferrari, but on yours against that body color, it looks great.
"...but on yours against that body color, it looks great..." Thanks Mike, These are just bare polished aluminum - but I truly concur with your statement. Now off to the park!
I think I like everything about the car! I'm, generally, more enthusiastic about original-mfr. wheels, but I think these look great on your car! When I worked at an F-dealership (mid-80's to early-90's), there was only one Prugna car we saw, and that was an '81 308 (Prugna/3218 tan). Being non-red, many at the dealership sort of frowned at it..........I always thought it looked good
Wow, I think the car looks great with those wheels. Probably one of the best pic's of a Mondial I've seen. Very nice car. Kurt There is nothing like a Ferrari, there never has been and never will be!
Great. I'm happy to hear it. Regarding Mondi' jabbing: Ignore It. The cab-forward design is a joy to drive. Plus, the Mondial wasn't in "The Scent of a Woman" and "Father of the Bride II" because it's ugly or a lesser Ferrari.
Michael, your car and wheels look great. They definatley stand out but as said earlier the combo works. I am thinking of replacing the wheels on my '86 Mondial and would appreciate knowing what size you used. Plus any tips would be helpful too. Thanks, John
John, I went with 18 x 8 fronts, 225 tires. And 18 x 10 rears, 265 tires. It is hard to imagine, but there is still room for more. I dont want larger width, but I bet an 11 inch rear wheel & a 9 inch front wheel could work... I just dont see the need. These wheels seem to fit like they were made for the car, well... actually... They were!
Michael - thanks for the information. I was told 18" might have rub potential and that 17" were the best so it's nice to hear form someone who actually has done this. The 18's definately fill the wheel well better and I can't imagine you need any more rubber on the road. Bill - I rescued my Mondial from a neglected home. It was bought in Italy so I suspect the wheels are not 16" but I will check them tonight. They only have 12K miles (original tires too!) but have a bit of corrosion. Since the timing belts are original also it's been parked in a warehouse. Going for service on Saturday though! Does it make any sense to look into suspension upgrades if I am going to change wheels?
Michael, She's a beauty! Hooray for Mondials! Mondials are one of those cars that look SO much better in person than in photos. I can only imagine how great this car looks in person. If there were more Mondials at Fdrives and events, people would like them more, because they are so great looking in person. Birdman
Hey Michael, I know you'll hate me for saying this - but just go back to the stock wheels and your car will look perfect. I personally have never EVER in my life seen any car gain from 'new' aftermarket rims. In fact, the whole concept of 'rims' sickens me. The manufacturer seems to ALWAYS get the best pick no matter what the car is. Don't go against the grain, just go back to stock please.
I don't hate too many people... I kept the stock factory units just for you, when your driving it. For me though, I will drive it with the new wheels. As for the "gain" you mention... These wheels are lighter, and deliver a larger contact patch to the road than the factory units. I for one like that kinda' gain. Aesthetically, I feel the gain is astronomical. Your results may vary.
