I am having some interior work done on my car. One of the things involves removing the convertible top release lever. The interiors guy who is doing the work isn't sure how to remove it and doesn't want to damage anything. Can someone please explain how it comes off? It appears to be held in place with a pin. Can you simply drive this pin out and the lever will come right off? Does it matter which way you drive it out? Any help or advice from someone who has done it would be much appreciated.

Yea mate its a simple pin. Tap the small end of the pin.
If your top is open and laying flat against the bulk head, tap the pin head that is facing upwards. Tap it down and remove it from the bottom.

Thanks Dino. Yes, the top's down. After the pin's out, does the lever just easily pull right off? Do you have to be careful noting where it fits on a multi-splined shaft for reassembly or is it keyed somehow and can only go back on one way?

From the top of my head its multi splined mate, definately not a keyed fitment. It just pulls of. Simple
Of course you have to remember the orientation of the lever when its removed, for obvious reasons when its put back on;)
