The nut is on the other side. Remove the brake line and the the nut right next to it can come off. The hex on the hose side is just to hold the line with a wrench.

I can get the craw foot / flare on the flare nut and i can hold the big 17mm hex of the hose from turning but there’s no room to turn the craw foot

While you are noodling over it soak the thing in PB blaster or kroil. You can see the tab in your picture pry that up and off and the brakeline/metal line will be free. The metal lines often have enough play to bring the small hex likely 10mm forward to where the big nut at the end of the rubber line is. Once you have this complex in this position you can put 2 wrenchs on there and squeeze. Be very careful. I have seen hamfisted diy guys rip the metal hose and then you will have some real work to do.

Sometimes you need more force use the crows foot and turn the brake line end once loose from the clip. It looks like you are close to being able to turn the crows foot and you might have more room once clip is removed the unit will float in a hole larger than the diameter of the unit.

When fittings are old and tight I like using line wrenchs to engage more hex get more support.

Thank you so much! I was actually thinking about what you are saying but I wasn’t sure that if I remove the tab clip off, then i can pull the metal line and the 11mm hex nut through the hole on the other side which will give me room for the two wrench. Excellent idea thanks!

    Pull the metal tab.
    Hold the small metal end.
Turn the large 17mm fitting on the hose end.
