Does anyone have the procedure on how to change the engine mounts and gearbox mounts on the 355??

I believe I have to gently have the sump on a jack before taking them off??

    Any advice/links would be good.

    Thanks,

    George

I would imagine it's nothing more than supporting the engine/gearbox while you remove the old mounts and put in new ones. The use of a cherry picker would be pretty helpful. I haven't had to deal with this, but it doesn't seem to hard.

I need new engine mounts too. Ferrari of Denver quoted me that this is about a $1,200 USD fix that takes about 8 hours worth of labor.

Just do the job yourself and save $1,000. These cars really aren't hard to work on. You just have to get over the name. They are still held together with just nuts and bolts.

8 hours?? You could have them changed in less then 3. Hell you can have the entire power plant sitting on the floor in three...8 hours..pfffttt...

I would replace the engine mounts myself, but I don't possess the tools or the expansive garage space to work on my own car. I suppose that someone has to pay to keep the lights on in Highlands Ranch as much as it pains me to say that.

You don't need anything fancy. Just buy what you need. You can get a standard set of Craftsman tool for $99, and good floorjack for $75, and set of jack stands for $20. That is what I started with an just added tools as I needed them. If you need a cherry picker you can pick one of those up for $100 bucks, or even go rent one.

Seriously, these cars aren't hard too work on, you just have to get over the fear of the name.

    No kidding.

If I was in his neck of the woods I would go over and help him out.
