    I am not a massive cigar buff, but I do enjoy a good one on occasion. I went to a cookout last weekend, and I decided to bring a few smokes along. Nothing spectacular, just some $5-10 cigars I picked up on the way.

    I am sitting there with my cousin, who says he "really likes cigars". He starts laughing at how I am smoking it. I am just drawing it into my mouth, then puffing it out. He laughs and says "hahaha, you look like someone who is trying to act like he smokes, but it's your first time". He says "you're supposed to draw the smoke in deeper, to where you can exhale it through your nose".

    I just don't like smoking my cigars that way. I don't like the tingly feeling or the taste being on the back of my tongue like that - I like it in the front part of the mouth. I said "I think the 'right' way to have a cigar is whatever way you enjoy it most".

    I know a guy who just likes how they smell... he takes very occasional puffs on it just to keep it lit, and beyond that it just burns in the tray and scents the room. To each his own, in my opinion.




    Are you ready for the funny part?

    Well, when my cousin is instructing me on how to smoke cigars, I look over and notice he has PEELED his cigar. He has removed the outer skin and it's just a semi-tight roll of leaves. I say "dude, WTF did you do?". Now, I have done this before by accident... if you get a bad cut on the end, and try to "clean it up" by pulling off the loose raggedy bits, you risk compromising the outer roll and then it's all downhill from there... so I am always very hesitant to mess with the wrapper for fear of messing it up. My cousin tells me "you're supposed to remove that... YOU smoke the outer wrapper??? hahahaha!".

    Anyway, I thought it was pretty hilarious. Have you ever seen someone peel a cigar like a banana before they smoke it? LMFAO!

    Holy smokes! (pun intended)... not sure where to begin...

    PEELING a cigar?? Never heard of it in ANY cigar venue over the last 25 years.
    Exhaling a CIGAR through the NOSE? Cigarettes and joints maybe.....

    Cigars are NOT cigarettes - but despite what you may hear, smokers DO inhale
    a bit of the smoke - NOT MUCH however - but a little. It's a 'whole mouth'
    experience, much like fine wine.

    Whatever you enjoy is fine - it's YOUR cigar. If you're not just out to 'impress
    people because you smoke cigars' then who cares?

    .... OUT THE NOSE??????? ......

    Well for starters I like to cut my cigars with a xikar cutter, toast the end with my torch, then light it. No peeling involved, never heard of that LOL. I puff and exhale, not immediately though. Absolutely no inhaling involved. I usually smoke it to tv nub if it's really good. Just like I'm doing right now.

    Anyone watching the Cleveland/Orlando game?

    Peeling the cigar-NEVER heard or seen that. Sounds like your friend is trying to impress you with his LACK of knowledge.

    Other than that, as you say, smoke it however you get the most pleasure. In the same way they make different cigars, people also have different tastes on how they like to smoke. I know this much-enjoy!

    I leave my wrappers on, both in and out of the bedroom. I clip the end with a pair of Swiss Army Knife scissors, toast the wrapper at the burn end, light, and enjoy.

    All you guys are amateurs. I smoke mine through my nose.. That is the only correct way..

    Here is a youtube video with cigarettes just do the same thing but with cigars.. You can really taste the flavor then..

    No no, don't go easy... he's a nice enough guy, but clueless in general.

    I wasn't sure how to retort to his laughing about how I smoke my cigar without sounding like a total ******. So please, speak your mind and I will digest and assimilate all comments and make sure I bring it up next time we smoke a cigar together :D
