    Hi NNO,

I would never ever buy a Ferrari with F1 transmission!
    I love & prefer the good old "hand-job" :D:D:D

    LMAO...!!!

Wolfgang, you'll fit in nicely in NY... :)

i love the feel and the interaction of a shift stick but would love to try an F1 tranny... i've yet to have that opportunity but maybe some day i will... It's derived from F1 to enhance speed and performance and those are the main reasons these cars are so appealing to us; i can't pass judgment on it until i at least give it a try...

I have nothing against new tech. I do prefer a nice shifter though as its an art form that I take pride in having masteres, Guess I'm old school :)

I'm not thrilled w new Ferraris being so quiet that they sneek by unpercieved. People Fear my 512TR when she comes howling & wailing down the road :)

Today the most desirable cars IMO are the AM Vanquish, Lambo Murcielago spyder & Porsche GT2

Not that April (see profile) is the zenith of Ferrari wisdom & lore, but when we had stopped at Shelton, she didn't even know that all those 360s were Ferrari.

When I pointed them out to her: "Looks just like any other car."
As I said, not the most into Ferrari, but it made me think...

    How many TRs are left?

I took mt 308QV out yesterday and had to get gas. When I pulled up to the gas station the guy pumping gas said "nice f*cking car" and gave me two thumbs up. He obviously had no problem identifying my car as a Ferrari.

As to the new cars, I find them very boring and lacking in the Ferrari tradition. The F1 clutch's seem to last about 5K miles and they are problematic at best. The newest car I would ever buy is a 512TR, and I seem to be appreciating the older cars with each passing day. My next Ferrari will be a Boxer or a Daytona.

REAL Ferraris can only be started by their owner because only that person knows the proper sequence of events required to get it to catch! (This is for carb Ferrari's obviously)

REAL Ferraris can be identified as such from at least a hundred yards away by a complete moron.

Hear Hear!!! Just had a long discussion about this very topic with a fellow F fan. You used to be able to easily identify a Ferrari, or at the very least know it is an exotic by its design. Ah well, another reason for me to save up for an F40 due next year...Tom Bakowski, you and me babe, we gonna get us one for Canada!

*The owner of a real Ferrari reeks of exhaust to the point where people clear a path for him wherever he goes....like Pig Pen from Charlie Brown.

*The owner of a real Ferrari doesn't have to worry about his wife taking his car..... she can't turn the wheel!!

msdesigns...the bb bodies were all made on wood bucks in the old tradition and as such, the bonnett on my car would probably not fit properly on yours.
i think that is kinda nice. btw, dick fritz had initially told me of the build process so that is where i get my confidence in saying the bodies are in fact made by hand. i think it is the last ferrari made that way.

william h also makes some good points...just last week i saw a very clean teastarossa on the road and i must say it looked great! it was a movie star sitting at the traffic light w/ all the people around it pointing fingers! nice to see!! i also wish ferrari would create a retro p4 or somthing really sexy and to adress the market where the old school ferrari lovers could have something to get excited about.

...how do you all feel about a continuation approach? who out there would jump on a continuation daytona w/ a few modern day touches? i would be the first in line. hell i even got excited when nissan advertised the factory autorized 240z program. i don't think it was successful but bravo for the gamble.

Just a quick note from someone who's been a fan of the marque forever (and finally getting close to a 308 for myself), Ferrari to me has always been about racing technology applied to the street, specifically F1 technology. To that end, carbon-fiber monocoques, mid-engined cars, semi-automatic gearboxes, and 5-valve engines making it into the road cars is the essence of what Ferrari is - the same way V12s, disc brakes, and 5-speed transmissions were in the classics.

Although I do agree the styling has been a bit watered down (612, 456) or just plain ugly (Enzo) for the last few models.
