Any ideas? Looking to throw a huge car event in the city and would love to not get in trouble by the police. Rob? Emil? Anybody?

Depends where - find the area - go to the local pct - they will give you insturctions for the rest - unless its on private property than you can do what you want - you only need a permit when your doing it on public parks/streets

Keith -- Like Harry said, local precint and check with the community affairs officer. They'll point you in the right direction.

Also check with the Mayor's office if you want to film it as you will need a special permit to film city streets - they are usually free unless you want Times Sq.

Go to the local precinct. They should be able to help.

In the past I've done things like this, but the best way to make sure things go down smoothly is by paying the officers to watch the cars.

Thanks for all the info guys. I was looking to get a car event in a major part of the city to get the tourist and everyone involved. I want to somewhat replicate the Players Run/Bullrun kick offs. It is for my annual Poker Run.

Keith -- realistically, you're talking fairly big bucks for permits, crews, cops, etc. You actually might be better off contacting somebody that has a private lot and trying to secure some space, aka Chelsea Piers parking lot, or the Intrepid.

    Details on your run?

I was thinking the Intrepid like Players Run kick off about 2 or 3 years ago but I figured the permission thing would have a lot of red tape. I was thinking a huge college campus as well but they are closed in June. DAMN!
