I had a 458 for a day a month or so back & quite enjoyed it. So I'm looking for a 360 or 430 to add to my little fleet. How as the F1 transmission aged? I was surprised to like in the 458, but I imagine it's not quite as polished in the 360. Would it be a let down compared to the 458? My other cars are all manuals, so I'm generally do generally go for 3 pedals, but am considering the F1...

Also, I assume neither the 360 nor the 430 offered an axle lift option?

The transmission of the 360 is an automated manual transmission, it is a true manual transmission with a robot engaging the clutch for you, the 430 is the same but a more refined and advanced AMT.
    The maker is Magnetti Mirelli
AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) | Magneti Marelli

The 458 has a dual clutch transmission which is considered more like an automatic.
I do not believe there was a lift option for neither model.

Drive a 360 and a 430, you'll be able to compare against the 458. Im sure the 458 is better as the cars have evolved. Ive had an 02 360 and now have a 08 430. You can tell the 430 is the newer car as the shifts are crisper. Even so, I had no issues with the 360, it was just as much fun.

The difference is very noticeable(to me), 360&430 150/120 ms shift times. Scud/16M 60ms. 458 is effectively 0 as the car does not stop accelerating during the shift. As one clutch releases the second is engaging. Much newer technology. Going from the Scud to the 360 makes the 360 feel dated if shifts were all I cared about. Some people really notice, some don't, it really depends on how sensitive you are to it. You should drive them and see for yourself. They only shift fast when your past 3/4 throttle and higher rpms. The older cars feel more positive - kick in the butt - because they stop accel then start again, while the "best" one 458 doesn't give the kick. IMHO - the Scud is perfect.
