I just saw another thread that was resurrected from the dead about which US dealership sels the most cars, and there was mention that both FoLI and FoSF were 2 of the big players.

How does the Factory ship new cars to dealers? My assumption would be that they are trucked to a Mediterranian (sp?) port, and new Ferraris destined for the Eastern US cross the Atlantic on a frieght ship, and that those destined for the West Coast cross the Pacific on a frieght ship, and those destined for the Central US come in through Galveston. They are then trucked to the respective dealerships. How accurate is my assumption?

How often do the ships leave from the originating port?

How often do dealers get shipments? How many units, typically, at a time?
Are they delivered in the open, or in containers?

Are all new Ferraris destined for a specific customer, or do dealers buy any "specs?"

Thanks in advance for answers to any of these questions. :)

They all go to port in NJ and they used to leave from there to FNA. I have heard (since we are no longer a dealer,I can not verify this) they now PPDI them at port, I know they do this for the Mazer's. Then Horseless Carriage carries them to the dealers(at least they used to). < How vague was that :D

One can bypass the 21 days at sea (and the week at FNA) by paying to have the car sent by air freight. It gets crated (instead of bagged) then flown over to your home port. It will sit there in customs for a few days before it goes to the dealer for the pdi. This reduces the wait from 5 weeks to 3.
