Not sure if I'm asking the question correctly, but I'm wondering how the open end of the vent hose for the alternator ends. Here's a pic of my alternator where this vent hose would fit onto:

And I'm asking about item number 38 in this diagram:

So, I have the "air conveyor" that fits on the back side of the alternator (item 35), but as purchased, the car did not have the vent hose itself (item 38) or the mounting bracket (item 40).

I've tried scanning a few Ferrari 328 photo galleries at Bring-a-Trailer, but I'm not seeing this in any of the under-body shots.

Does the open end of the vent just poke down below the frame? Is there some kind of a rim or intake that protects the end of that vent hose?

It just pokes down out of the bracket by 1 inch, making it about level with the frame rail. It brings some cooler air into the alternator. There is no finishing piece to the end, it is the orange type of silicon coated fibreglass hose reinforced with spiral wound wire.

Mine is original, and it would look exactly like this.

The bracket is a fairly heavy steel item, with a rubber insert for the rounded hole where the hose goes through. It attaches to one of the motor mount bolts.

Yes, the other end of the horse is just pointing down on an open air facing the ground

The picture as it applies to that hose is pretty complete and accurate. It just sticks down there.

Here is a pick from a thread just posted about a shift shaft seal leak, it shows nicely exactly how the alternator hose should be.
