Here's a Hemmings ad for a 1967 Ghibli for just under $30,000: http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/maserati/ghibli/382506.html Opinions? (No, I'm not in the market to buy one...yet.) Image Unavailable, Please Login
"sorted period Chev, V8 conversion," It's had it's heart removed - what initially appeared to be a great deal is not.
A place for a serious buyer to start would be MaseratiSource and MIE. I think Jacques (MaseratiSource) has delt in some engines previously. The questions would be how much Maserati drivetrain is left. If they mated to the original tranny that'd be better. However, you may find some parts unobtainable. Obtaining all the correct pieces may double your purchase price. You'd then you'd have a non-matching numbers car, but what appears to be a nice vehicle.
I'm not on the market; I just thought it was an interesting ad. But the issue of how much of the original power plant is left is an excellent one.
If a Ghibli with a Chevy engine makes you happy, then this one may be fine. I actually had one of these transplants about a year ago and it was nothing like "the real thing". I reminded me too much of a C4 Vette I had years ago. The Maserati V8 engine is sweet ... better find a Ghibli that has its heart in the right place.
