Since it's never been changed before, it's the original timing belt from factory. Hows does it looks to you?

Looking for the PM1-4 is not fun. I think on my car it looks like this " PM|1-4", so there different variations of the mark is located, right? Thanks.

We are seeing the wrong side of the belt. You need to look at the teeth.

Moot point anyway since they are 20 years old. They needed changing back in 91

It hasn't run enough to wear the PRINTING off?

    Man, that's crazy, there!

+1 'looks" are not the issue, it's the breakdown of the materials over time.....

I wouldn't even turn that motor over for a second. It would be TOWED to the shop for those belts.

Looking at a timing belt is like looking at a bottle of wine.
In both cases it is what's inside that counts. Sometimes you can see when wine is bad from the outside, sometimes you can't. Likewise belts.

You can't tell conditon by the looks, I don't give a flying F what the internet experts say.

That belt cannot have more than a very few thousand miles on it. The lettering wears off pretty fast.

How many miles on your car?

Probably should put this in the "Irrelevant Questions Mega-thread" along with the "rusty rotors" and the "I bought my first Ferrari off eBay without a PPI and now it's broken" threads.

Well if you are already doing a major on it, then why did you post this and get everyone all riled up ???

I don't see anyone but you riled up.

He's showing a picture of a belt with 5000 miles. BFD.

Don't like his photographs or what?

Thousands have started far more meaningless threads. At least it is not a dumb question (yes they do exist) about something in the owners manual.

It's about impossible to tell if a belt is good or bad from just a visual. However, if a belt appears to have extensive cracks then you at least know you have a bad one! The cracking can be all over the belt but generally appears most visible when looked at from the toothed side.

Sell it on eBay as an original belt!!!! LOL. I'm trying to calculate how much loot Ferrari was robbed of by not changing at the recommened interval.

Probably the single most important component on a Ferrari, and we shouldn't talk about it? The timing belt thread bashing is getting very cliche'.

True...and we do talk about it and talk about it....and still talk about it, and then we rehash the subject weekly. Perhaps the use of the Search function would reveal the redunandcy of this post.

To be honest, I have worked on cars, trucks but this the 1st time I ever work on a Ferrari, the reason I post the pics of the belt is too see from the forum experience if the belt looks really bad so I have something to look out for and hopefully this will help out other newbies in the future.

    No flame please guys.
