There is an event coming up relatively near me. It’s a one mile top speed event on a 2 mile long airport runway. About what speed could one expect to reach in a one mile straight in a Testarossa?

The exit speed after the standing start km is allegedly 232 kph (144 mph). One mile is 600 m more but increasing speed becomes more difficult; maybe 250 kph (155 mph) is a reasonable expectation.

Another data point for a blown TR diff.

They keep accelerating over 150 mph , I hit the rev limiter at an indicated 185 on TRX tyres .
    A 911 turbo ( think it was a 996 turbo ) couldn’t keep up .
On a bit where ( traffic ) I slowed down to 140 the turbo overtook and when traffic cleared on the German autobahn, he booted it , I tagged on to his bumper he ran out of puff at around 165 and I shot past ….shot not slowly eased in a elephant race kinda way that two trucks overtake .

    Fasted thing I ever had easily trumped the 360 F1 , but then 5.0 L 12 cy vs 3.6 V8 I guess it’s a no contest ?
The 42 inch height helps at 150 upwards compared to the 911 s pseudo brick shape .

I sold it bcz it couldn’t handle .l.you know go around twisty bits .

The testarossa is helped by its torque, and also by its low height. But acceleration decreases as speed increases, and at high speeds the distance is covered very rapidly (the 600 m after the first km will be covered in less than 9s) - so to reach the top speed, several kms are probably needed (even though it will not seem to take a very long time).

I came up with about 150 mph at the 1 mile mark and 9 more seconds past the 24 sec km time -- if you are willing to abuse your TR as much as C&D abused not-their TR ;).

Not sure how accurate the Ferrari speedometer is, but I once saw 181mph on a straight stretch of highway on a quiet Sunday morning. The wind noise was substantial. I my stomach was in knots, but the TR seemed to take it in stride...no issues.

i did this in the 512tr at Bruntingthorpe (which is where top gear and 5th gear etc do a lot of their speed runs in England), and tripped the lights at 182mph fwiw.

and then let off, threw out the anchors, and still went through the parking lot at the end at 100mph :).

achieved vmax in italy and france many times which i reckon is closer to 195 mph but requires a bit more distance to achieve
