i got the mother-of-all speeding tickets....
a little too late, i saw the trooper over in the weeds, he flipped his lights on, and i pulled over for him before he could get out of the gravel and onto the road...i knew it was me he was after.....

he said "You realize Ma'am this is a jailable offense"

    no i didn't know that...

"were you runnng late to work ?"

    "no"

"you do realize Ma'am i could cuff you and take you to jail right now"

then he ran my license- perfectly clean.......and i was allowed to go......the tech's at the shop can all tell you- my nerves were shot for the rest of that day.

So on the road- i'm a good girl...no more than 7-10 miles over the speed limit.....

On the track......it is a different story altogether!!!!

isn't it against the TOS to glorify speeding? I think I have been warned about this in the past.

I've rolled at 110 in a 55 for miles on end in a 2003 Crown Vic.

But it was a police car, and I was following a couple of State Troopers also going that fast, and we were responding to a brother officer who called in a fight with a subject, and then didn't answer the radio. This was of course in the housing project down at the other end of the county and even at 110 it took us over 20 minutes. By the time we got there, our guy had it under control, before literally 30 backup cars showed up. Now I'm with a small town police department and don't have much occasion to do stuff like that.

I would probably get professional courtesy if I really needed it (except in Virginia, where I take their speed limits exactly literally), but would you believe I try to lead by example, and I don't want to presume on the grace of my colleagues. On the back roads with no blind curves, I might open it up in the S2000 for just a minute if nobody's around, but only in daylight. At night, it's the double nickel or very close to it. All kinds of critters live in the woods and run across the road, and some of them are big enough to mess you UP if you hit them. Don't drive past your headlights--really. Besides, with the roof off, 55 feels pretty fast, or at least windy and noisy.

That's for sure. Since it was a death case they made the extra effort.

Speeding, maybe not so bad within reason, depending on road conditions and driver's attitude. But. No tolerance for racing on public roads, not from this officer or any other I know. Good thing we have a go-kart track in our town, where people can get it out of their blood.

how fast were you going? and what were you driving? at least you learned your lesson, and that's the important thing.

I just got a warning for this one:
In my defense, I WAS running late for work!

... and as I mentioned earlier, I learned my lesson, and I drive safely in the right lane, and only go on the left if I'm going with the flow of traffic at a safe speed. :)

    Generally around 76 ish.

But if the mood takes me, 80-90.

I've lived in the same place long enough to know where to do it.

nothing excotic, and large farm equipment was involved......mountainous terrain,,,,
2 lane road, '97 Ford Taurus....

i had been following a tractor combine that was wider than the lane we were travelling in ( it was over half way into the oncomming lane), and had been patiently following for over 12 miles.......i was waiting for a section of road where i would have a downhill view over 2 miles long.....got to that section of road- i could finally see around the combine- gave "Pearl" a kick in the ass and passed the combine (yes the center line dashes were in my favor)

THEN i saw the trooper in the weeds.......razzenfrattinrizzisnivet! I was popped for doing 88 in a 55 zone......

    8 years ago.......

been whistle clean ever since ;)

I cruise with the flow of traffic. It's the best way to roll.

I live sorta close to Road America in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin. I've done ~160mph on my race bike and 172mph in a Porsche 911 (at least thats what the digital spedo read). Both on the front straight.. hitting the *bump* in turn 1 around 100mph is quite the experience.

Hmmm, interesting that the 'history' verbiage on this site doesn't mention the 'Dr. Xxxxx', who flamed out bigtime in a TR, went off the road and killed his wife. Later found to NOT have Z-rated tired, but V-rated.
As I recall from reading about this in Autoweek way, way back when, I think someone went after Ferrari for not mandating Z-rated rubber for TRs.

Don't try that on I-40 crossing over into Tex-ass, as those boys really monitor that section of road and will string you UP.

You guys are all missing the point. The original poster, in the first post, said, "EX girlfriend's PORSCHE 911 turbo" in the same sentence. What we really need is a picture and a phone number.

Rented Thuderbird from Budget: Over 130mph down I-16 for around 40 miles from Savannah to Statesboro to make it to the hospital before my grandmother died. My RX-7 was not well at the time. Filled the tires to spec at a gas station before I left town. Clearly there was no governor on that one. Popped it to 140 a few times. Now that was fun.
My grandmother used to cruise I-16 in her Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham at well over 100mph regularly. That boat ran smooth as glass w/ the wolfin monster V-8. Ah, leather...

UOTE=Jeff328;138592789]No no no you have it backwards. We go so fast because we are so cool. :)

The best thing about these threads is reading about old Camaros going 190.[/QUOTE] I am relatively new to this website, and don't want to make any enemies,( I already have enough of those) But "CAN" we be realistic "Here". I own a 1991 Testarossa and also a 1972 Detomaso Pantera. The Pantera has been fine-tuned and lowered, with "ALL" the goodies. I have been radared at a local race track at 150mph, after that the car starts to experience "frontend float", not a good feeling at a true 150mph, Now I have to hear how an OLD Camaro does 190plus+++...PLEASE!!!! put down the marijuana and step away from the vehicle.

Unless I'm with a car group, I don't cruise any faster than the flow of traffic. I really enjoy driving on up and down, side to side, and twisty open roads that have a fun challenge to the driving experience.
