How does a TR compare to a testarossa on the track inregards to performance. From what I hear the car is night and day in comparison to performing well on the track. Any comments would be very interesting.

    Dear Ferraristi,

I don't know about the track but Crockett and Tubbs always caught the bad guys through the winding streets of Miami with the Testarossa.....so, it can't be that bad. :D

Unless you are running on Daytona International Speedway at WOT (i.e., a banked high-speed tri-oval), both a TR and 512TR are ~1000 lbs too heavy ;)

It's a lot of work around the track... heavy and too softly sprung! Handling wise it is quite tame (IMHO) to handle, you actually drift it quite easily - not that I condone this behavior - but is is fun and does raise a few eyebrows ;)

I used to track my TR on club days. It is way to heavy and slow for Lime Rock (a short and quick course), fast enough but craaaaaapy brakes for The Glen (a big, long couse with great straights), and Pocono where the banks it was ok, but the inside course just too slow and heavy.

The car was designed at a GT not a track car. While WH has his 512 on the track, he has done a lot of work on it....

It's fun to go out and play during a track session, but nothing more.

Took mine on the track for the first time the other day. Loved it! Although I think a v8 would have been more fun...

Ask Will Hubbel. He races the 512.

Among other things mentioned here, the center of gravity is too high because the engine sits on top of the transmission, lots of inertia. Same issue with the BB 512 LM.

I tracked the Testarossa at Roebling Roads and it was fun, fast at the straight and that track isn't hard on brakes. It corners well and its down to how big your balls are.
