From what I've seen so far its pretty poor, Too bad Sullivan is not literate enough to be able to pronounce some of the drivers names. What planet is he from!

Seriously, Daly was terrible. This broadcast is at least decent.

That 1 shift per 1.4 seconds was a pretty cool fact. :D

I think that the overall quality of the CBS announcers is pretty poor. They really can ruin a great show.

This is ok to me as well, relativly speaking. It will never be as good as speed's coverage but for CBS, this one is passable.

Hey moron, he was blue-flagged. If he doesn't move, he gets penalized. Sullivan may have competed in an F1 race, but he doesn't know F1. CBS needs to employ people that know what their talking about, otherwise they have either an a) audience that feels they don't know anything or b) a misinformed set of new F1 fans.

Sullivan's synopsis on the Schumaker controversy was comical "...his wheels went straight into the wall. What was that all about?" Thanks for your brilliant and astute analysis Danny.

I met Sullivan at Newark Airport once. He came off as the Michael Spinx of Auto racing a real pudding head. Sullivan should just quietly go away forever and maybe do a few spots on "The best darn Sports Show".

I did mange to talk to Bob Varsha in the lobby of the Omni at the USGP last year, he seemed genuinely interested in the sport and even watch the 24h du Mans with us on the lobby TV. When asked why there was so much NASCAR on TV, he said "It's what the sponsors want, sorry"

Even though I don't like the broadcast, I can't dig the guy, he was nice and polite too.

He was right about what he said about Schumacher. Even if he did actually mess up the corner he still could have steered through it and not just steer the wheel straight leaving the car in everyone's way. That's how i understood it. Guys, the CBS broadcast is geared to F1 noobs which is why it seems so 2nd rate to all us F1 junkies. Anything that draws attention to our sport in the US i'm all for. Now let's get back to watching the race. If it's really bugging you that much just wait till speed re-airs it and watch it then.

How can it be perpetually for noobs though? They explain everything about F1 in every race they broadcast. That tells me that the audience is churning over every race or they feel the viewers are too dumb to remember what they said.

I just imagine houses full of hicks skeptically watching F1 wondering where all the passing is.

To build up F1 in the US they should take a lesson from Nascar who excel in fan involvement, unlike the unwashed masses vs. high and mighty relationship F1 has with its fans.

I LOATHE the cbs broadcast. The announcers are inept and uninformed. I suppose this is what you get when you take NASCAR announcers and tell them to announce a F1 race. Bob, Steve, and David are in serious need during the cbs broadcast. They would make it well worth watching. I think we would be better off if the cbs guys would not talk and just let the car sounds run the broadcast.

This is what, their 3rd broadcast? these things take awhile. What I meant by it was designed for noobs was that was it was meant for people that might have never seen an F1 race be flipping channels and catch a part of the race and gain interest.

When F1 isn't run by a bunch of eurosnob assh****, maybe then it will become more fan friendly. Till then it is what it is.

We watched about 5 minutes of the pre-race show and I loved the fact that Michael totally ignored the press when asked about the situation. After hearing the incompetence and totally opinionated announcer (bad business in the broadcasting field of work - apparently doesn't know any better) - I said turn that off, went and made reservations for Petit LeMans then put one tv on the Indy 500 and the other on Speed but we're gonna grab some beer and go over and clean "Sophia" for next weekend's car show.. . . .priorities prevail.

    Go Dan Wheldon!!!!!!

But this is at least their 2nd year taking some of the races from Speed, maybe more and its 4 broadcasts this year. How many times do we have to listen to Derek Daly (or his mental midget lackies) explain why the lap counter goes backwars or how there is a manufacturer fight, a driver fight, and a tire fight. I mean, geez, its like repeating the 1st grade again and again. Its like the movie "Groundhog Day" - the same over and over.

I cant imagine who the audience is they feel they are playing to. I'd wager most of the folks watching it know something about F1, especially today when it's competing with the Indy 500.

We can thank Bernie for the broadcast deal. Believe me, I would rather watch the race on Speed but as far as the CBS coverage goes, Monaco was the best one so far, in my opinon. I guess what i'm trying to say is there is really no point in complaining about it, it's not gonna change till next year at least.

Danny Sullivan is an IDIOT. He raced there, when, a quarter century ago? And now he is some kind of expert? What a joke. His broadcast was so anti-Schumacher it was sickening.
CBS should go back to broadcasting bowling. They are a huge embarrassment to F1.

    dont get me wrong....
i like the fact that they are making an effort to promote F1 in the US ..... but it is such an half assed effort. why cant they just do it right. **** ...im sure they get enough money from BMW/Geico/Philips Norelco....

I totally agree. He said something along the lines that Micheal wasn't very good at comeing back from the back. HELLOOOOOO you Idiot, one of micheals greats come back was from 19th to WIN the race! Then today he came back from 22nd to finish 5th. Sullivan is an idiot. Then the numb nuts said that the Ferrari just didn't have the pace to keep up with the front runners. Again, what an IDIOT! If you know ANYTHING about Monaco you know that that place is extreamly hard to pass at. If you get caught behind a slower car your screwed because you can't get around them. To add more to the fact that neither one of these tools knows what they are talking about, Schumie clicked off the quickest laps of the race (1:15) to catch Rubens from being :05 seconds back in TWO laps! Oh I guess that was slower than the front runners, NOT!

Then these guys couldn't even get out a straight sentance. They were fumbling all over their words throughout the race, and couldn't even pronounce the names correctly. CBS needs to get rid of these morons, I can't stand listening to them.

The CBS broadcasts are SO bad, they are sure not going to help F1 in the US. Can't CBS hire someone with a brain and some knowledge of current F1? Reminds me of the Career.com ads with all of the monkeys working in the office.

I also thought it was kind of funny when he kept on miss-pronouncing drivers' names(like the time he said "Luzzi" instead of Liuzzi).
