I currently own a Mondial QV cabriolet. I love everything about the car except getting in and out. Top down is better but there is no graceful way for an old fat guy like me to get in. I am thinking of the 348 because I believe it to be the last user friendly Ferrari. If it breaks I have to fix it. Let me know what you think.

    I owned a 3.2 Coupe concurrent with a 348 ts. Now I have a 348 tb.

Top up or down, the Mondial is easier. The 348, you step down into it when compared to the Mondial. However, the 348 has that nice wide bottom sill that you can place a hand on for support while exiting.

Also, the Mondial's seats are sort-of flat while the 348 seats are almost like sitting in a bucket (slimmer hips helps). Later 348 seats are more comfortable, except the SS buckets.

Getting in/out of the 348 will be more difficult than the Mondial Cab. Lower seats and wider sills.

That said -Buy one anyway, and just find your technique and enjoy the spectacle of the passengers attempts to egress.

Never understood why people "step" into a car and then slide down the bolster. Turn around, drop your butt into the seat and rotate your legs in. Getting out, do the reverse. Harder in a 348/355 due to the wide door sills but it still works. You can sit on the sill first and lift you butt into the seat if need be. And it minimizes bolster wear.

Not really any worst than a C7 Corvette.

I agree. Just sit down first then turn. Getting out - put your left hand down on the sill and push down while standing up( after you have rotated your feet out).

    Don’t let the ingress/egress stop you from getting a 348. [emoji106]

Karting has it right! You absolutely need to put your hand down on the sill first. I even get in that way .... right leg goes in, left foot stays out and planted, left hand goes down on the sill behind me and then I essentially lift myself in and over the bolster (it never gets rubbed). Same in reverse for egress.

Also, don't park in today's skinny slots because, unless you're svelte and limber, you'll need to open the 348's doors all the way for entry/exit.

We need a video how to get in and out the correct way.

I just butter my hips and take a running dive into the seat

Even with the seat all the way back if I go butt first and sit down I can not manage to swing my legs in. I literally put both feet in and put my left hand on the sill and slide myself in. Has to be hysterical to watch. Gittin out ain't much better.

Sadly, some cars are not for everyone.

I read about a guy who sniped a mint, low-mileage '89 328 off of ebay. When the car arrived he found that he didn't fit, and promptly sold the car.

Also, I had a friend visit from Holland (big dudes over there) and he absolutely could not drive my Mondial. No matter how we re-positioned everything, his thighs were slammed against the steering wheel.

I agree the 348 is the last Ferrari model that is very user friendly for DIY repairs, but doing those repairs will involve a lot more physical gymnastics than getting in and out of the car.
I would also suggest to get a Spider. Getting in and out when the top is down is really pretty easy.

I'm 6 feet tall. Agree with the "Turn around, drop your butt into the seat and rotate your legs in". Not as easy as most cars. Took some getting used to.

    I prefer 'getting in'
    Not so 'getting out'
