Most of the exhaust threads I have read people change headers, cats, etc...

This sounds like my ultimate setup but would be $9000.00

    Capristo 3 - $3950.00
    Fabspeed headers - $2995.00
    Fabspeed Cat bypass - $995.00
Fabspeed Silicon hose kit - $550.00
Fabspeed Carbon Air box - $650.00

So if I can just afford the Capristo Exhaust and add the other things as I go, will the exhaust still sound awesome?

The Capristo will sound awesome regardless of the rest.

My suggestion is you look into Tubi headers - IMO, the absolute best for the 355. I'd also be careful removing CAT's on a 5.2 unless you wish to chase CEL's

Be sure to reach out to Mike at Yellow Compass regarding the Capristo but he does not sell Tubi (he does sell Fabspeed)

So Dave you would do high flow cats instead?

You don't need the hose kit and the air box for the ultimate sound. Tubi headers are the best but pretty pricey. If you order from Yellow Compass or Vivid Racing you can save about $400 to $500 each on the price of the Capristo and headers compared to your listed price.

The secondary cat bypass does make a big difference I believe because you're essentially straight piped when the bypass valve is open.

My set up is: Fabspeed headers, high flow cats, Fabspeed bypass pipe and Capristo 2/3. I can send you a video if you want to hear what it's like. I wish I had the Tubi headers since those supposedly give you even more of an F1 sound (I believe they're 4-2-1 as opposed to Fabspeed which is 4-1) but mine had the Fabspeed headers put on prior to me buying it.

regarding test pipes or highflows on a 5.2 car...

Ive now driven close to 1000miles with gutted hyperflows
with regular straight O2 spacers with steel wool inside.
    not one cel "yet".

not sure if the shape of the empty hyperflow cat combined with spacers is playing a factor that I'm not getting any cel, but I plan to switch to true straight pipes next year so we'll see.

Have had Tubi headers, Hyperflows and Tubi exhaust for 10 years very happy no problems. Only change I would make would be to change out the Tubi exhaust for a Capristo.

I went with fabspeed headers, straight pipes, and Capristo sound 2/3.

Great pricing and help from Mike at Yellow Compass.

    This setup is epic.

I would on,y go with capristos twin valve but thats just me.

Either as said by Dave and others will sound excellent. Get you main cats evoflow if you need them else just get the muffler.

The biggest variable is the muffler. Get Ken's Capristo and be done with it.

The headers should only be changed if they are original and thus prone to breakdown. Otherwise, the difference in sound is small between the various aftermarket solutions. Some people can tell but I sure can't (I have Fabspeed).

Sport cats should be used, but they are mainly for reliability and heat management purposes. They also do not make a huge sound difference IMO.

Is there a big difference between Cap 3 and the 2/3?

Twin sound seems to have a lower tone, not the high pitched scream of the "normal" Capristo 355 exhaust. Fabspeed headers also lower the pitch/tone. If you want the high pitched scream, you need the regular Capristo, and 4-2-1 exhaust manifolds.

I had the normal Capristo with oem manifolds (rebuilt by QV London) and oem cats...it screamed like a banshee! :)
