I waited for driving season to be over and took my car into the shop for cosmetic work (wheel rash, nick, etc) about December 10th. A week or so they did the work but found a mech problem with the top. Now it is about four weeks and still no joy.

I did notice that the dealer, the closest one to me, had a few million dollars worth of F-cars in the repair lot. I had to double park when getting an estimate. They did not seem to be second class as an F-40 was on the rack.

How long do you wait for some non-routine maintenance? Is this something that attaches to the particular dealership? For the top problem they said it might require a part which would take time but after two weeks it turned out to be adjustment only. Why two weeks to perform an adjustment (in December). I just have this picture of inefficiency in my mind. The local Toyota and the local BMW dealership do not take in a car for a problem that is solved by an adjustment and keep the car for two weeks.

what is your opinion? I have three F-car dealers in near driving distance. Often switching in this sort of situation is imerely a matter of trading the devil you know for the devil you do not know - but if my time experience is out of the ordinary maybe I should try another nearby.
