I'm going out of town for a little over a month and there's so much talk about not letting old Ferraris sit, that I was wondering, is a month too long to let it sit?? As it is, it's driven at least every two weeks (more).
Not trying to sound dumb, but everyone always talks about never letting them sit...
    thanks,
    Etip

A month isn't too long. I've let mine sit for a few months at a time, and it starts right up every time I come back. You might want to add a fuel stabilizer and disconnect the battery, just in case.

I let mine sit for almost two months. My only suggestion would be to disconnect the battery and put a tender on it.

Why disconnect the battery? Why not just put a tender on it?

Park it lock it and leave it. Let us know if it corroded away into dust when you get back for all our benefits.

Some things will happen for sure. All the rubber pipes will need replacing, and the oil will turn to acid and etch the cylinders. the fuel will go stale and rust out the fuel tank. No electrics will work as all the connections will be dry. You can throw away your injectors as they will gum up. All the door rubbers and seals will need replacing. The battery will be flat and need replacing as well as the wheels will permanently flatspot unless you survive putting it up on blocks.

A month ? You have to be kidding me ?

I wouldn't not drive my Ferrari for more than a month or so max! In fact, it is the rare week that I don't drive it al least once.

Personally, in my opinion, no Ferrari deserves to sit anywhere longer than a few hours. The cars are built to be driven. If you want something to look at, go buy a painting.

Like I said, I wasn't trying to sound dumb, I was just curious since everyone says to never let them sit. I was kind of wondering what "too long" is...

Yes, I know... it often disrupts my sleeping since I get up several times a night to go for little drives. Also, the car keeps pulling the little nails out of the wall whenever I hang it up in my living room. Anyone figured out how to hang 'em... ;-)

For those of us that live in the realm of the salt belt... We want to be able to look at them in 2 years, too! ;)

Just to be on the very safe side. Oh, and also to avoid more use on the little clock ;) ;)

I'll take it! There's that great thread about engine swap options... Then I'll have the good looks of a Ferrari with the reliability and ease of use of an automatic transmissioned, tame engine! :D Just to think of the fuel economy.....

I think a single stint of six months will not do any harm so a month will be ok. Many series of six month snoozes will likely take its toll where the car simply becomes stiff, dry and brittle.
My driving style of my 328 is about once a month and has been for the last 10 years. No problems what so ever. I live in a warm dry climate and the car is obviously garaged. Its starts, it goes, nothing breaks. And i dont change the oil, winterize it or put in on blocks between drives. I have a battery tender which i mostly forget to use and disconnect the battery at that sneaky earth connection point only when i go away to hopefully foil the savages that might try steal it.

Cool. I didn't think (actually, I knew) it wouldn't hurt the car to sit for a month, but everyone says never let them sit, so...

    thanks for all the advise.
