    Hello all

Just wondering how long after hooking your battery up to the Tender (Ferrari or aftermarket) does the light take to go "green"

I use a CTEK MXS5.0 if anyone here is familiar, and for me green is when it gets to "7" (3 is below 80%, 4 is above 80% and 7 is fully charged as far as I understand things)

I charge mine at least once a week (unable to have it hooked up 24/7 or else I would) , and it seems to take around 3-4 hours to reach "green". I drive weekly, sometimes 15 min trips sometimes over an hour.

Is 3-4 hours to green normal ? Or do people just plug in and not check when it's green....

    Thanks

Ours ('11 Cali with HELE) is mostly a weekend toy, and it takes a similar amount of time to charge. Sometimes it'll go green in 2 or 3 hours, sometimes as many as 6 or 7. OEM charger.

I check the charger a couple times per day, but mainly because we live in a 100+ year old house and I don't trust the power! Plus, it's so pretty to look at.

Thanks Tom, if yours takes as long as well I guess mine isn't out of the ordinary.

Wonder what others are like :)

If you open and close the door or re-arm alarm it will go back to yellow for awhile.

Mine will go from green to red occasionally. I assume the car "wakes up", does some sort of check, uses power, then goes back to sleep? Or, is the conditioner just cycling the charger up and down a bit to minimize memory effects?

Tried it just then and everything stayed green on the tender

Interesting. Mine goes from green to red, and eventually it'll be back to green.

Are you using the Ferrari badged tender ? Not sure if it makes a difference that mine is A different version

But yeah I unlocked the car and opened the door, heard the pump running, interior light came on etc and it stayed at 7 which on my tender is fully charged

^ Yes. Here it is. I will say that recently switching to a new Odyssey battery, it takes about an extra hour to go green versus the old battery (don't know what brand it was).

Its all dependent on the type/condition of your battery, and the amp/hr output of your charger.

My Harley Davidson Ultra Glide will take 8-12 hours after a ride to go back to green on my C-tek. I would imagine that my battery is 50% or more smaller than the battery in your car. However, that battery is about 3 years old and due for replacement.

I also use the C-tek US800 which I'm sure has a lower output than your MXS5.0!

Also my experience. Even after some hundred miles on the autobahn with all my cars it takes 4-7 hours with the MX5.0 to completely charge the batteries.

Can you post a pic of your battery conditioner? Sounds different from mine. Thanks.

There you go :) .... not sure if it's clear in the pic but mine is on 3 in the pic

When I plug it in it starts at 3 every time, then eventually gets up to 4 after 1-2 hours, then 7 when fully charged

I tried charging a Honda Civic battery the other day, which gets frequent short journeys and not charged in ages,(went straight to 4) and it took quicker to get to full than what the Ferrari does after one drive lol

Thanks. That's a lot more bells and whistles than my OEM Ferrari one.

These are only $125 or so (as far as I know) and I'm told are better than the OEM ferrari charger (also made by CTEK)

It's great I use it on my bike and other cars too once every 6 months or so
