Your ABS and PASM systems will require the correct size to function properly. IIRC your owners manual says what Porsche approved sizes work. Not trying to be snooty........I just remembering that they actually document this somewhere in all that paperwork you got.

I'm running a set of N rated pirelli snows in 19" on my 997S. Stock tire sizes.

AMAZING is all I can say. It's like having a completely different car in the winter.

Even if it's bone dry outside, the winters work SOOOOOOOO much better -- eliminates the wheel hop completely. The stopping distances differences between the summer and winter tires in the cold weather are huge.

Just think - One accident avoided will more than pay for them.

For winter wheel/tire packages, I have had excellent service and results with Tirerack. They have a Porsche specialist (IIRC it is Damion) who will assist you with the setup, which will be configured for your car, therefore no concerns for altered performance (considering all the traction control, stability management, etc.). The wheels/tires (as well as some spacers for the rears) can be bought as a complete package, mounted + balanced, and shipped direct to you. Then 45 minutes to mount (easily done in your garage) and you are good to go. I have not priced a package in a few years, but I would predict that for winter tires and Porsche knock off wheels you would be looking at about $2000 - 2500.
I put winter wheels/tires on my C4S each season with outstanding results. I drove the car all year round. Short of deep snow, the C4S would eat SUV's in winter driving conditions!
