    The vehicle has been reported as used as a fleet, rental, and/or lease vehicle.

    It's not always about the price IMHO.

    I know the glass is half full in everything Bill, but this car was leased twice and failing the emission smog test is a pretty common ocurrence in a 10 year old car (or older) in California. I don't see where there is a definitive statement that this car was indeed a rental.

    I bought my own 456 about 6 mo ago for for a really low price, there were a few 550s at that time in the 50s, My feeling is they are rebounding and unless there is a economic disaster the bottom is past.

    20 years is the bottom of the cycle- been the same for every fcar- from 20-29 years they are old used cars- then at 30 years they begin turning into "Classics". 40 years and they're "Vintage". (Who ever thought a 1972 ANYTHING would be desirable?)

    Right now these are current, desirable used cars, and will continue to slightly depreciate.

    308/328s are on the way up- 348s at bottom right now- 355's still going down just a bit more.

    Since we've already seen $40K 456's there's no reason to believe that with a bit more time there will be bottom-of-the-market $40k 550s and eventually 575s. Good low mileage one or two owner cars will always command more, in some cases substantially more- Cars with greater needs will get less-

    Just my opinion...

    Has anyone looked at a $50-55k 550 that's for sale? What condition was it in?

    I'm honestly asking. The prices on cars.com, ebay, etc. are so largely varied that it's tough to pinpoint what the 550s are actually selling at nowadays. There is a pool in the $75-80k range that are no doubt very nice cars, but there also seems to be a group of motivated sellers in the $50-55k range.

    I honestly have not seen much movement in 550 prices for almost a year. Good ones seem to be in the 70s and up, and the ones for much less seem to have some problems. We did have a couple of good ones traded for $50K, but that was more for convenience and tax advantage than anything else. 575s are still dropping, with prices in the 90s for most, with some higher and lower.

    Yeah, there's no magic so I suppose you'd get what you pay for.

    There are a few low outliers right now that probably reinforce the "there's no cheap Ferrari" mantra. But, in the $50-60k range you're talking daily driver money. It's tempting to think about.

    It looks like the good cars are still listed in the $75-80k range, but I've only been watching them for the past month or so. That said, they don't seem to be selling all that quickly in the range though.
