Agree. Wouldn't take much to get it original. My understanding is interior is original color. Im not sure I've seen the flatter pad seats?

    Look at Ivan's car #1044.

There's a good chance that this car came with the flatter seats and they redid them this way. I've seen several cars with blue but not that blue. I'd verify it with the factory if it's important to you. But this one looks very nice and if it drives well you will really enjoy it! The finish on some things is probably already upgraded beyond original anyway. There just aren't enough photos to tell enough. What's the rest of the engine compartment look like, the under carriage ... oh you know the drill. No front trunk shots. Obviously it's had the bumpers converted.

I'll look around for photos of the flat seats.

Oh here's Ivan's car The Car Nut - 1977 Maserati Bora

$159,500 all in. Not a perfect car, but very nice overall with a desirable color combination and older repaint. A nice buy IMO.

That means the seller got around $130,000. Boras continue to be the Rodney Dangerfield. Meanwhile an inverted bathtub full of rust and in need of complete restoration (Porsche speedster) sells for $650,000. Herd mentality works in mysterious ways.

Inverted bath tub!!!! HA Ha Ha. That's a good one.

Great minds think alike. I'm glad to know I'm not the only 1 that had that sense of the old Porsche Speedster design. :)

    Ciao,
    George

Let me disabuse you of such thinking ... many have fallen before you with such thoughts.

I of course hope their day will come but all along the way they always seem to find a way to disappoint as a financial investment. It's not right but so far there your have it.

Owner since 1987 and it's about a push financially.

Experience of ownership is through the roof though.

Truly one of the greats. Drive a great one and you will see.

I have and I couldn't agree more. Perhaps you were just way ahead of the curve ;)

Many of the next generation collectors appreciate the Bora. Perhaps they will view it differently.

Either way I love them and will enjoy mine to the fullest and so the future is bright.

Yes, about 3 years ago. It was a nice driver, but soon to do a nut and bolt restoration.

Damn, I seriously considered contacting the vendor a month or two ago to take a look at it and likely make an offer if it all checked out. Never thought seller would sell it for $130k, if I had thought he'd take that I would have definitely been all over it. At $159,500 all in, I'd call it about current market price and a fair deal for the buyer(?)

    FYI guys,
Gooding's Bora in Scottsdale only brought $120k at the hammer - $132k all in. Car was quite scruffy but not terrible, non original interior with sloppy engine bay and questionable mileage, odometer first digit tough to read? Did anyone see that? Their offering last year was in even rougher shape and brought $170k at the hammer

I would classify the gold one at Gooding as a "needs everything" redone car in a color with limited desirability. :)

The market is taking condition much more in account than it has been, which is a good thing.

Note: GWMC generally overstate the condition of their cars for sale. "Light cosmetic restoration" really means full restoration. Just got this eMail from them. Doesn't look bad in the photos. I'll leave it to Bob to speculate on the value.

Not enough info or pictures really. What's odd is that the inside of the hatch area is painted body color. The late ones I've seen are usually black. But then there are so few hard and fast rules. Looks pretty original which means a lot of work. I like white/read.

    Mirror needs a fix ;)

Personally, I hope the ask is accurate!

That was either a really good buy and a very costly mistake. A low mileage non-running Bora .... what could ever go wrong :)
