I mean the one that had a plexiglass band from one side to the other with little grooves painted or inscribed into it, the headlamps fixed in place and the two headlight sections separated by a center section set against black background. Maybe only the first Euro. ones before the U.S. model with flip-up lamps was finalized had this nose?.
Are we talking under 100 cars? I wonder if one with the plexiglass nose is worth more than the American version with flip up headlamps (which must be a drag, losing a few co-efficient of drag points when the headlamp pods are up...

For reference the yellow Daytona spyder at Frankfurt, the first one made, had that nose and the real Daytona spyder used in the pilot only of Miami Vice (n the regular series they used a McBurnie built replica).

Around 168 plexi cars were made is my best guess.

I went through all the Daytona serial numbers and counted a total of about 412 plexi cars, with SN. 14119 being the last one. Some of these cars have since been converted to the pop-up light system, usually because of an accident. Here are a few of the plexi serial numbers. I'm sure Mr. Massini or other experts will correct me...

    13931 , 13933 13955 , 13957 , 13959 , 13969 , 13971 ,

    364 plexis

    13941 (3rd USA),
    It then gets rather spotty, with plexi & pop-ups on the line together. But I believe these are plexis: 13945 , 13951 , 13953 , 13955 , 13957 , 13959
    13971 , 13973 , 13979 , 13983 , 13985 , 13987, 13993
    14001 , 14009 , 14011, 14017, 14031 , 14033 , 14035 , 14037 , 14039 , 14041 ,
    14043, 14047 , 14049 , 14051 , 14055, 14059 , 14061, 14067 , 14069 , 14071 , 14073 , 14075, 14087 , 14089 , 14091 , 14093 , 14095 , 14103 , 14105 , 14107 , 14109 ,
    14111, 14115 , 14117 , 14119 (last plexi).

If anyone knows for sure that one of these cars was originally built as a pop-up (not a plexi converted to pop-up) please let me know.

13773 is not a Daytona but a 365 GT 2+2 "Queen Mary", offered for sale by Bonhams on 09.10.2015 in Belgium. See Bonhams : Ferrari Classiche certified,1970 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 Coupé Chassis no. 13773 Engine no. 13773

Bonhams corrected the catalogue: "Please note that the chassis and engine number is not 13773 as stated in the printed catalogue, but 13733 as now stated on the catalogue online."

So 13773 might well be a Daytona.

    Best regards,

I owned 12875 in about 1978 when I purchased it used in Denver for $25k and then drove it to Mike Sheehan's shop in Newport Beach. It was yellow with black interior. It had a broken speedo showing around 25k miles. Mike did the chop and already had a stack of roofs with serial numbers as he knew way back then that they would be converted back some day. He then sold the car on my behalf for $40k. It had major rust issues repaired by Mike's Argentinian metal men. I managed to redline it in 5th in Nevada on the way, fastest I have ever driven despite owning many fast cars including a fast as a 599, 575 manual, sold to Hong Kong by Mike just over a year ago.

Anyone know where this car is and if it is now a coupe again?
