Does anyone know? Any guess as to how many coupes and spyder?
1275 US GT and GTS were produced. 3761 total cars US, England and Europe. Maybe 25% gone forever (That a wild ass guess) leaves maybe 1000 US cars. Plus, some indeterminate amount of European cars came over. No RHD's here (well, maybe a couple) leaves about 1900 LHD euro cars worldwide, 25% lost forever, or about 500 cars, how many came to US? 1/3 of the rest? so 400 euro cars, 900-1000 US cars. With some of the US cars not in the US anymore. So maybe 800 US, 400 Euro cars still here in the States. 1200 total. Probably 50/50 GT, GTS. These are wild ass guesses, I've never seen real numbers quoted anywhere for what might still be here. Anyone else wanna take a shot at it? DM
That sounds good to me...here's an easier one...how many 206's? I've got one and I know of 4 others in USA which includes the one Shaughnessy just found in a barn.........or maybe he found it in a container in a barn....gregg blue
this is an interesting question. i know because of the weak dollar in the past 2 years, several us cars have gone back to europe. late last summer, a couple of cars i looked at were sold to europe even though they were us spec cars. the spyder i bought last july had two different equal offers from europe incase i didn't complete the sale and it is a us car. i think 25 % no longer around is a bit agressive. dino's like all ferrari's were brought back to life in the 80's. with dino only being 10-15 years old, i have to believe they were brought back at a higher ratio than even older ferrari's. but then again, i am still happy to hold onto the title of "young and stupid". if anyone would like to correct me, feel free. i have to imagine even wrecked cars were repaired.
I think you need to factor in that the Japanese are pretty Dino crazy and that there are a smattering of Dinos in other countries around the world. Furthermore, 206GTs and "L" series 246GTs weren't on the US price list so a disproportionate number of those early cars (150+387) aren't in the US. That would suggest there might be fewer Dinos in the US.
Greetings! How much cost a Dino 206 GT? Made after 1967? 180HP? I don't see any of these toys for sale. Which is the difference of the price between a 246 and 206? I know that 246 costs quite a lot. Thanks for feedback!
I've also had difficulty lately finding any Dinos around to gauge a price range, let alone determining how many are left in USA. When Sheehan said Dinos were destined for the $300k mark I scoffed, but with the lack of cars around it sure is tough to answer questions like these. Keith/4redno, Denny Schue has sold his 246 years ago, retired to Palm Springs and no longer manages the Register. You are correct that he has been a great source for information and enthusiasm over many years.
Saw one for sale recently. 206GT, nice car. I think it had about a 15% premium on it over an equivalent condition 246GT. DM
