I've been on this site for 10 years+. No epidemic of blown 430 engines around here. Plus I have one. 07 with 25000 miles. I put 23000 on .

I’ve been like this with all my cars not only the Ferrari. Always checking common problems and try to stay on top of things by preventive maintenance. One year into the ownership I’m fairly confident in the car and the report gives me more reassurance.

And of course a Ferrari should be driven, that’s what they are for. I’m not scared at all of high miles, there is a F430 here in Sweden with 180k miles. It’s working perfectly. However he’s had the car since it was new and knows how it’s been driven.

Yes, Blackstone does awesome work highly recommended ! from what I have read, the etiology of the rod bearing/ rod issue may be not changing oil often enough? or is it that Ferraris sit for long periods of time not driven ? - this would be logical if the oft-reported rumor of the $1K Ferrari oil change was true! - (Frankly, it is SO easy I don't know why everyone does not change their own oil/filter! ) I think it would be very helpful to fit a Moroso oil accumulator/ pre-oiler to a Ferrari ! it is a very simple device used by many racers and in GA aircraft! it consists of a cylindrical device w/ a piston inside. oil on one side pressurized air on the other. prior to start up, an electric solenoid ( or a mechanical valve ) opens and feeds oil under pressure thru the engine to "pre-oil " it ! the oil expelled is then automatically replenished when the motor starts by the engine oil pump! It will also supply oil whenever needed automatically if there is a drop in pressure ! this has saved many a motor fr issues like a major oil leak and sudden loss of pressure and given guys time to 'shut er' down before a catastrophic failure! .............................................I can see it could be easily done w/a Ferrari! Mayhaps we will fab up some kits?....................................................................................................... Did we notice someone selling additional external bypass filter kits for Ferrari w/a small micron filter? that's a good idea too ! Many trucks use something similar for radiator fluid, transmissions and power steering too ! kit w/a electric solenoid - need the lines and fittings to install on a ferrari ! ( and fit/ use a classier switch eh ? ) LOL[IMG][IMG]
