    That's no good. :(

But wait, do you think the owner could have put on 1,000,484 miles? :D

I heard about a guy in Blackhawk, CA that had like 400 miles on his F40. Anyone heard about this? Supposedly the car has it's own room and chandelier.

Jim, that car is moving, no...? When was the picture taken...? Can you tell us who the owner is (so we can mercilessly chastise him:D)...? Is that kilometers or miles...?

Just think - it probably still has Italian air in the tires and Italian fuel in the tank!

Why doesn't he just run it without oil? At this rate he (or the next owner) will be rebuilding the engine soon anyway. If he really wanted to take care of it he would drive the thing at least once a week.
If I were in the market for an F-40 I wouldn't touch that car.

I agree, everything the factory does to put out one of these magnificent cars, and people just watch them sit in a garage. I don't get it. For that, buy a poster of the car and look at that.

And when the belt service was done, the back of the belts had rubber balled up on them from the tensioners freezing up...

I know a guy here with a very rare 2valve countach US version with only 400 kilometers! He starts it once a month and the car is the finest example i have ever seen.

Man - this thread hits a BIG nerve with me. WHY does the guy even starting it up? He's not appreciating it.

Yeah, yeah - I know the line about these things being "pieces of art." Sure - I agree. But you know how I appreciate art? Well, it depends on the style of art. Poetry? I enjoy reading it out loud or having it read to me. Scultpure? I enjoy looking at it as I move around it. Paintings? I enjoy standing or sitting still and staring at it for hours. Music? I enjoy reclining, closing my eyes, and listening in a dark room.

But the piece of art that is a Ferrari?

It is best appreciated at redline (or at full boost, depending on the model), with a dry curvy road, and no cops.

These people who treat them like sculptures are ripping themselves off, and they aren't really appreciating anything (even if the asset itself is appreciating... pun intended...)

Hey, if they can buy them, they can do anything they want with them - right?

    I still think they're idiots!

hey maybe, just maybe, he disconnected his odo and he's been driving it. and he just wants to keep the miles low for resale.

heh, not really though. if someone stole this guys f40 they'd be doing him a favor by actually driving it around. i don't understand how anyone can buy any type of sports car like this and just watch it. i've noticed that the cars are so much more interesting in motion anyway.

It gets sicker than that. This guy built his home around this car and it cannot be driven without literally demoing the wall....His comments when asked about this were, "It's my artwork."

No worries guys, this particular car is about to get the wheels driven off of it. The owner of the car hasn't had it very long, and he's getting it ready to drive with a major service, new tires, etc.

    Yeah, what he said.

Damn Carb, I'm really disappointed in you. All Ferraris that I've seen show that you're moving when you're not. There's a peg that the needle rests on for both the speedo and the tach. The peg is above 0 on both gauges. You should know that.
