My 89 has 2.
My 85 QV has ONE fan. I think the 3.2 Mondials have 2 fans. Also what is average of temperature gauge on engine and cooling system? My car runs right at 195 on highway. In traffic on hot days in TX, it will be a little past 195. The engine oil temperature will hit about 210 at constant speeds.
The average water temperature is 70 degrees Celsius (158 degrees Fahrenheit), the average oil temperature is 80 degrees Celsius (176 degrees Fahrenheit). This is after a few hours of driving, the ambient temperature was 21 degrees Celsius (70 degrees Fahrenheit). Don't look at the oil pressure (the pressure sender seems to be faulty). My 1981 M8 has only one radiator fan, and it runs cool, if anything, at laeast according to the gauge.
My 84 QV has two fans. Though the second one on the passenger side appears to be "added" as the bracket that holds it to the radiator appears to be "glued" on it and it is loose. I never had a cooling problem, even in hot California weather in stop and go traffic. The needle does go beyond the middle range in extreme conditions, but never even close to hot. Both fans start and stop at the same time.
I recently bought a used fan for the car which already has the posts/studs for mounting two fans. As said previously - car is already wired for two fans. Car tended to run hot because of fusebox delamination which allowed only partial single fan operation. Silly me, I thought it was the thermostat... "When you think it's butter - but it's not" - it's the G. D'd. delaminated FUSEBOX. [from an old Chiffon Margerine ad. I remember the ad because I'm old!]
