In the beginning of this article he rambles on about how stupid we "bunch of tobacco-chewing backwoodsmen " in America are. I'm a little bothered by this and wondered.

Oh and since when is he a billboard of lean health and has he ever even used that US toothbrush?!

Guy is an idoit. Its alright if your going to make statements about our presidency with some sense, but this guy is just plain jealous and bitter.

And last time I check, many m people buy Vettes, not so much the case for Jaguars.

Also note that this article was published prior to the election. Also, trying to sell copies of whatever tabloid he writes for. Also, when he gets out from behind his typewriter and does some reporting from the middle of the desert, let him do it without sunglasses on.

The second page of the article is actually a fair assesment of the car. He even says he would buy one.

    What a moron.

I'm actually surprised he gave the C6 4 out of 5 stars, since all I have ever heard him do is call it a plastic piece of ****.

Clarkson: you either get him or you don't. It's like standup comedy. He allways exagerates (sp?) but to be honest some sentiments behind his ramblings don't surprise me that much.

He's just bitter because The Colonies can kick his country's ass in a day if they wanted to.

    :D

I like him, and find him occasionally funny. I much prefer Tiff tho. But I would take them both over anything we have over here. What is that one show that all the reporters have these stupid fake news anchor voices? Motor Trend? Motor Week? Who the hell knows. They all sound like they trained at The University of News Voices and Fake Tonal Inflections that are Endlessly Annoying at the Campus of the Perpetually Bland and Eternally Unimaginative .

Jeezus, I'll drink to that. That show is best watched with the sound on MUTE. And I can't stand the bearded guy who does the garage segment. Reminds me of one of those uber-liberal college professors that epitomizes the phrase "those that can't do, teach."

As has been said, it's sensationalist stuff. You do get people that will take it as gospel, but luckily they're not the ones likely to be reading The Times. Those who do read The Times will take it as tongue in cheek as Clarkson wrote it.

It bought a smile to my face, but in the same way as jokes about the French smelling of garlic and cycling about with strings of onions round their necks and berets on their heads.

The sunglasses comment, I think, refers to a British Army recruitment advert on TV here several years ago. Shot through the sunglass-tinted eyes of a soldier who was trying to calm a civilian, but getting nowhere fast, as soon as the sunglasses were removed, the irate chap calmed down. The voiceover mentioned something about letting the civilian see your eyes. Don't read too much into it :).

The problem is that Clarksons comments are taken at such face value by a lot of punters......for example since he said the new Chrysler sports coupe 'looks like a dog having a ****' sales in the UK have plummeted, how can one man have so much influence?

As a Brit living in the US you have to look at his audience in the UK who read the Times. They are generally well educated and well travelled people who take it all tongue in cheek.

However when most Europeans visit the US and go to somewhere like Disney they also tend to get a certain opinion of the country which isn't correct (everyone is fat etc).
Once they visit other more sophisticated parts and cities their opinion changes.

The BBC is also very liberally biased not just against the US but also against any political party in England that isn't the Labour Party. The are responsible for a lot of the anti-us feeling.....................

I wish Tiff Needle would get this kind of air time that they give Clarkson.

As I've said before (and you may correct me if I'm wrong): I don't know of a single US automotive journalist would would even consider penning the kind of scathing insults I see Clarkson dish out to members of other nations, regardless of any factual merit they may or may not have.
