The F50, Enzo, and LaFerrari are all naturally-aspirated V12s, no?

I believe you are correct Sir. I know for sure the F50 is an NA 12.

And before anyone jumps on my comment. Yes, I know the LaFerrari naturally-aspirated V12 is paired with two electric motors. My main point is that the F50, Enzo, and LaFerrari are not turbocharged.

exactly, but 25% is still above average for how often people are correct about something in this world lately. :D

I love my 430 Scuderia and would even let my 488 Pista go first. The Pista is supercar fast and amazing, but still a lot less drama than a Scuderia. The "normal" F430 is quite close to a Scuderia, a lot closer than a "normal" 488 to a Pista. Put a Kline exhaust on the F430 and it sounds like an F1. For fun and pleasure, always naturally aspirated. As much as the 458 Speciale is faster and a lot more refined in every detail, it also feels a lot heavier than a Scuderia. All subjective, of course.

Most would beg to differ. 430 to 458 is one of if not the biggest leap Ferrari has ever made. 488 is just a faster worse sounding 458 (with a nicer front and cool side aero I will admit). Drove a brand new 488 in Italy over 1,000 miles in a week, it was a dream, i got home and bought an 458. The sound is night and day, and as sound is about 75% of the reason we love these cars, i just can’t understand the appeal of turbo charged Ferraris without a major exhaust tweak.

  11. Then you are loving these cars for the wrong reason.

A person who loves a Ferrari (or any car) for primarily the way it sounds, is not a driver, but merely an admirer.

A driver loves a car primarily for the way it drives (handling, road manners, steering, etc.), sound is part of it, but not anywhere near 75%.

The 458 might be the worst modern Ferrari that i've driven. No matter how one thinks it sounds (and I don't think it sounds all that great, sort of an Emperor has no Clothes effect), the sound does not make up for its lack of handling capabilities.

Last time I checked, it’s not up to you how I love a Ferrari… it’s up to me. And for me. It’s the noise. The raw emotion. Not a bunch of electronic BS. Sounds to me like you love them for all the wrong reasons.

Lack of handling LOL. It’s one of the best handling cars in the world. You are splitting hairs upon hairs here. Anyone who needs as many electronics as a 488 has with active aero isn’t a good driver, period. And remember everything you like about the 488 came from a 458 originally. To each his own I guess. Heard a lot of debate on this subject, but even the 488 die hard heads appreciate where their car came from.

Chill. You said that sound about 75% of the reason WE love these cars.

    Many would differ, that’s all.

Many would think that driving excitement, design, and a bunch of other things matter as well.

You can love however you want, we all do. But WE are all different.

    :)

no model 'comes from any other'... they are ALL from Ferrari-- the 458 isn't a separate entity... I mean, I understand the words choice and what you mean but it's better to understand it as... Ferrari engineered and designed a car and EACH AND EVERY MODEL thereafter is an improvement upon itself.... they constantly take what they've done and ADD to it, make it BETTER and it's that simple.... the 430 was so much better than the 360 but it didn't COME FROM THE 360.... and even though the 458 was a 'complete redesign' from the 430, it still 'came from' every Ferrari before it.... so any mid engine V8 all came from the 308 if you wanna get technical...

Yea I get it, but was responding to a 488 owner claiming the 458 was the “worst modern ferrari” which 1) is a laughable statement by all objective and subjective measurement and 2) 458 is the closest cousin to the 488 car, sharing a lot of tech, concepts, shapes, transmission concept, etc. That’s all. Understand they are all their own animals

ye I hear ya... but it's all how we word it right? Based on Ferrari always improving the next model in a series... then it can be stated that the 488 is worse than the F8 and the 458 is worse than the 488 and the 430 is worse than the 458, etc etc..... so if 'modern mid engine V8 Ferrari' means the 458/488/F8, then I guess he'd be right that its the worst.

To each his own, but I think 488-on sounds like a lawn mower. A very pretty good handling one, but it’s totally lost its magic. I would never buy a 488, F8, or the V6. May as well buy a mcclaren.

I think they are all fun to drive.

Just a pity I don't have the parking space to keep them all... o_O

That's why a aftermarket exhaust is a must with the newer Ferrari's.

I love my F8, though think the 458 will age the best of the 458/488/F8. Great engine and the cleanest shape without the big side intakes breaking up the profile.

All fantastic cars in their own right though. Splitting hairs.

I love the look of the side intakes, much better than without. Funny how there’s something for everyone.
