I seem to be asked this question more than I would have thought. I would never ask this of someone but apparantly many don't give it a second thought. And how many do you actually let drive it?

Only one person has asked to drive my car (Testarossa). A good friend of mine. Yes, I let him drive. He has a Ferrai (308) also. No one else has ask to drive, not even my wife. She is afraid to drive it. I think she is more afraid of me getting mad if I hear not shifting properly.

I could be wrong but true friends don't ask for a ride. They just chill in the passenger seat and enjoy the ride. But who am I to say anything anyways. It's 3AM here in Toronto and i'm drunk!

    Cheers

my wife uses the car more than me but it works out less expensive when she is shopping as you cant get much in a ferrari but if she goes in her car [toyota landcruiser] it costs a fortune she hasent caught on yet she thinks that i am being nice letting her use the ferrari

Finding enthusiasts is similar to my definition of pornography, you know it when you see it. If an enthusiast asks, sure. The 365 will bite you in the ass if you don't know what you're doing (especially the gear box) so I tend to go with most people when they ask.

The wife used to drive it more than I did.

"I've got to go to the store, taking the Ferrari, love you" was my favorite voice mail at the office...

    :)

They dare not. Besides most of my friends have their own Ferraris as well, so we don't bother each other.

I have given more rides for others than I have driven my F-cars for my own enjoyment....but thankfully no one has asked to drive it (though I had offered to a selected few).

I think in general, people are respectful and cognizant enough to not want ownership of any problem should it arises....

I honestly dont know if I could ask someone to drive, I have no problem with asking someone for a ride, but asking to drive is pretty tought, if I dont know the person, absoulutley not, if Im good friends with them, maybe, just up and down a short street, id be too nervous wrecking someones prized possesion like that.

rides were fine with me, i would not ask to drive someones car, ferrari or not , unless it was offered up to me. mine will be taken apart fr a bit, not that it matters since not a single friend or family member has asked about it or come by. guess i need to find new friends!

My Wife, Mom, and Dad have driven my Ferrari. Some other selected friends have as well. At least with the 360, it is just a car (albeit a fast one). In most cases, the drives are short and way under the limit. And, in all cases, I have ridden with the person driving their vehicles before they drove the Ferrari.

Also, in many cases, the drives are exchanges (you drive my Ferrari, I'll drive your Z8/NSX/911tt etc.).

Only one of my buddies has driven my car. I actually volunteered to leave it with him for a week whilst I was away on business, but he only wanted to swap cars at that moment (He has a lovely 993 twin-turbo with LOTS of mods. Fast!).

Many of my other friends ask jokingly to drive, but when I say "OK", they sort of come to a realisation, and back away fearfully.

Just last week, some strangers asked if they could take a picture of my car, and having read something here about being nice ;), I asked if they would like to sit inside. The look on their faces was priceless, but they didn't quite dare, like I had a booby-trap in the seat or something. :D

I like to take young kids (ages 16-20 that don't seem to have interest in getting a job) out for a ride and let them drive the car for a few miles. I see about 50% of them get some inspiration and a job within 30 days. That makes me feel good.

well seeing as I am 20 and don't have one, I always take the oppertunity to say hi to a guy out in his toy. I have gotton alot of detailing business that way just being friendly and letting them know that I am a fellow enthusiest. If they are out with a date to dinner or something, I am respectful and say hi, your car is gorgious and tell them to have a good night. I know I love it when people tell me they like my car when Im out. I think the key is not being rude and let the guy with the car decide if he wants to talk.

Come to think of it, I don't believe anyone has ever me asked me that.

It would have to be a pretty good friend, huh? And they wouldn't ask...

It's almost the same type of question as:

Anyone ever asked to sleep with your wife? :)

    Come to think of it............

The one single time I loaned my Mondial to my friend "just to drive down the block" she managed to hit four other cars. Just got it back from the body shop yesterday. I may still loan it out to those who ask, but to follow the advice from this board, not to a woman! :)

Nobody's ever asked to drive it. Many have asked for rides.

I've let lots of people drive it. Most are reluctant, at first, to take the keys. Not surprising -- I turned down the first offer I got to drive a Ferrari too.

A good friend of mine offered to swap keys for a drive home. Of course I didn't hesitate for a second as he had a Testarossa with Tubi and I a lowly 308.

I came up from behind then swung out next to him, dropped two gears and opened it up, going through the gears, so he could hear how good his Tubi sounded. 50 MPH to 100 in about 5 seconds!

When I shut down he was 1/4 mile behind me. He wasn't upset (I don't think) because I didn't over-rev and didn't miss any shifts. We were on an empty 4 lane road so there was no danger. Very generous of him I must say.

    Otherwise, Nobody has ever asked.

After that experience there will be a redhead in my life someday......................................

I do the same. That way I get to look and appreciate and yet not really bother anyone.
I may tend to stare too long though.
