    Here's another thought. Say there are now 6.5 billion people on earth (live ones). Take the average weight to be around 100 lbs. The specific gravity is pretty close to water so the volume of the average person is about about 1.2 cubic feet.

    6.5 billion x 1.2 = just under 8 billion cubic feet.

    An 8 billion cubic foot cube is 2,000 ft on a side.

    Therefore, if we dig a hole only 2,000 ft on a side, we can squish the entire population of earth into it and pave it over.
