How long did it take you to get your first Ferrari after you graduated from college? Include graduate school, Law School, Business School, etc. How do you post a poll?
I bought my first Ferrari, a 1970 Dino Gt, in 1981, 2 years out of college. It was a basket case that I paid $8000 for (about $20 grand in today's money). I spent 2 years fixing it up before it was back on the road. All if it was paid with money I saved for the purpose. My point is that there are a lot of cars out there that need a little TLC or are higher mileage cars that cost no more than a new Camry, Prius, or V8 Mustang. In fact, we may right now be in the golden age of the variety of cars for the money than you'll ever find in the future. You don't have to start with an F430 to have some Ferrari fun. But, you do need to put your mind to it.
I didnt graduate High School but I got my Ferrari at age 35. Probably couldve had one earlier but I bought a Viper first.
Never really went to college. Didn't think it was worth it. I've always wanted to start my own business anyways, I know what I want to do and I know exactly how to do it. Could have started earlier with it but the credit crunch hit and I was unable to get loan. Then my family and I moved to Spain, I was unable to get a job (language and credit crunch, again). Tomorrow a very enthusiastic COO of the bank will call me back to arange a meeting. If I get the loan it won't be long, 18 months tops.
Graduated in 1983 (5-Year Plan). Bought mine in 2006, so 23 years. But admittedly I have some pretty screwed-up priorities. I first: Paid back all college loans. Put up to 33% of my PRE Tax paycheck into investments to fund my own retirement (about 10% today). 2 Ex-wives 1 Current wife. 1 Kid (W/current wife) 2 houses (own both w/payments; one a rental that costs me $3.00 a month to keep). 1 Dog 2 Stock Market Crashes (1 the Internet Bubble) Travelled the world extensively with wife and kid (example: been to the Egyptian Red Sea [scuba diving] about 23 times; taken them to about 25 to 35 different countries IIRC). Purposely live in Germany where the prices for almost everything are MUCH more expensive than the USA. Then bought the car 308GTSi in 2006. And it is a fixer-upper.
Exactly the reason I never want to live in Holland again. I was born there and the taxes to live in that country are so F'ed up. I can't believe its accepted so easily by almost everyone there. Maybe that's why we're all high when we live there. I have had the luck that we went all over the world on holdays too (like you take your wife and son everywhere now) when I was younger...
I'm also a 23 year spread from high school grad to my first Ferrari (1986-2009) college, med school, 5 yrs residency making relative squat, 5 years buying into equity partnership ... plus wife, 3 kids, retirement planning and all that ... After following Ferrari for a years I felt fortunate to get a slightly used 2 yr old F430 last summer for 30K UNDER original sticker when they were commanding 30-40K OVER list the prior year some dreams come true
You can buy a Ferrari today for 1/2 of what a loaded SUV runs. What's the point of the question again??????????
My wife's Toyota Sequoia cost about $10k more than my 328GTS, my '08 Merc E350 about double. Ferrari's just ain't that expensive, if you set your sights to "reasonable" in the first place. Yeah, a 125 or 250 might run a tad more. Jedi
You're asking about a NEW Ferrari, right? 'Cause... like some others here, I wasn't a graduate when I bought my first either. Anyway, I bought an '82 Mondial Coupe back in 1993; was 35 and still on active duty (Air Force). Then I sold the car after about 6 years due to a pending d******.
Well, I've been out of college for 21 years, so that's 21 years and counting Well, I guess I could cheat a little - I got my Master's degree in 2002, so only 8 years!
Graduated in 1978. Bought my Ferrari (1st and current) in 2007. So 29 years! This is a toy for me and I refuse to take out loans for toys. That is part of the reason for waiting. Also didn't have a real desire to own one until recently. Too many other things to do first. As my better half says - "It's cheaper than a Bimbo if you're going to have a midlife crisis!" Now I just look like the stereotypical old guy instead of the good looking young guy with the cool car!
Graduated in May 2003 - purchased car in February 2008. So a little under 4.5 years. Although, I had my Ferrari while I was in grad school.
Graduated high school in 1988, went to college for a few semesters. At the time had a full time job, part time job and was going to college full time---Something had to give, so the working and money came first. I went back to college here and there for a few classes over the years. I have about 25 credits, but no degree. Bought my first Ferrari in 2004, 16 yrs out of high school....and I can retire in less than 6 yrs...Woo-Hoo
4 years and counting since college graduation. Plus, I just started med school last Fall and got 3 years and change til graduation. I don't think a $40k/yr residency pay will allow me to afford one with $100k+ of school debt, lol. It will be a while...
5 years out and no Ferrari, lol. IMO, don't focus on it nor when you obtain anything of material value. It's great to have a goal in mind, but if you focus too hard on "things" you lose all sight of everything/everyone else that's truly important in your life. And without that, the Ferrari soon becomes meaningless. Or you may make a knee-jerk decision and buy one before you are truly ready.
it's not how long it takes you, but the journey you take getting there. enjoy the ride!!! (before and after you buy one!!) 6ish for me.
