I noticed alot of the music channels and programs like Entertainment or something are putting out alot of "reality rich" people programs on tv, ala like Paris Hilton. And I noticed that all the people are either whinning children (I believe one channel does a Sweet sixteen on TV) who think they all that and the parents buy them expensive cars when they turn 16, or you have the Gottis, the Girls something on E! about a mother and daughter or something who are rich, but only because of her settlement with her ex-NFL player hubby. These girls whine, and are looking for new guys to support them ($$). I don't have problems with rich people, I love them (they give me jobs, and pay for a majority of our taxes to support our nation), but I just hate people who live off the wealth of others and whine. Just things to be flashy and really have no appreciation for themselves. Sorry to rant. I just want to know how do these shows keep popping up. My roomie's girl is over all the time, and we have one television. I would love to watch sports, but its not my tv. :(

They will continue to feed mindless garbage to the public as long as the public remains mindless.

Well, If all the little turds that grew up watching MTV would stop watching all this crap, I don't think the program directors would continue to air them.

Do the world (and yourself) a favor...Buy some books, and leave them all over the house for her to trip over. Maybe she'll pick one up and read it.

I don't think the public will ever get bored of it. It's only gotten worse in the last 10 years and I'm sure will continue to as long as there is money to be made by creating these shows. Networks like E! and VH1 constantly air shows like 'It's good to be...", "The fabulous life of...", etc... They feed the public's obsession with who has what, with whom, from where, etc...

I caught a glimpse of that Sweet 16 show, I think on MTV. Some girl's parents spent THOUSANDS of dollars on her b-day party and bought her a white Range Rover before she was even old enough to drive it. When the idea of getting her a used one was kicked around, she began crying to her daddy, who told her "if you stop whining I'll get you whatever you want". lol, such a shame.

Its just a faze on tv like the lifestyles of the rich and famous, dynasty, dallas, slogans like "greed is good" and ferraris on at least 2 tv shows of the 80's. People will get sick of seeing rich spoiled people sooner or later and it will be another 10 years of rosanne, jeff foxworthy on tv, like the 90's.

The question is, Is it hurting young poor people who cannot have 100k sweet 16 birthday parties by creating a I am better than you attitude?

Yeah...I never saw Dynasty or Dallas, I'm too young. But it seems those shows are sitcoms, sorta things, these shows are just reality shows through real people. It just seems we got alot more of these type shows now.

I'm not sure about poor people, it depends on what you would define "poor". It your talking about your typical youth person in college, who isn't "poor", by has student bills and trying to get by, I think it makes them move to hate these people.

I think it hurts the rich people more. I always wonder, how many of these people can do a) maintain this lifestyle after daddy and mommy are gone, and b) are actually successful in life. I also think it creates a new-level of hate towards them once they grow up, and average people are smart being this young of 16-17 because rich people usually try to "buy" friends.

Alot of these shows are in Southern Cal or New York City.

i was talking about the lower economic class of young people where there parents make 40k combined and now they have to see some young girl get a 70k range rover. and wonder why they cannot have the same thing.

It's peoples obsession w/ money. The Sweet 16 one is really sad. The girls and guy (yes one boy had a sweet 16, and his father acted like a 10 year old the whole time) make themselves look like total idiots and spoiled brats on national tv. It pisses me off too, that MTV decides to only show those who have parties that cost over 200 grand. Please, you think that's the avg. party? My Bar Mitzvah didn't cost that much, and that's a hell of a lot more important than a sweet 16.

Every tuesday from 11-1130 is me ***** to my girlfriend about how much i hate that damn show and how the kids will never do anything productive with their lives, ever.

Just a side note, i went to pre-school with one of the girls on the first episode, and knew several young ladies on the one with the boy from Haverford, PA.

Yeap...It's not really the problem of the "money", but I am just shock at the parnets. I mean, these business-type people (I'm am guessing alot of them are like the people but the girls and boys are just whinning little spolied brats), you would think they would have an understanding of responsibility, financial responsibility, as well as the value of hard work more then anyone. When it comes to parneting, they are the exact opposite.

One thing I notice about my generation (I'm 20, 21 next month) is that the majority of my generation doesn't know the real value of hard work and the rewards. They seem to want the instant payoff, the instant satisfication and give up if they did get it, and whine. I see it alot in college, work, ect.

I know the one girl who was pretty evil about her party on the 16 party show or whatever, she cruel to those that though they were invited, but didn't get invited. The girl who got a new Rover (which is like $70-$80k I believe) had a credit card she spent to the Max (and whatever her limit was, bet it was alot higher alot of people). Who needs a credit card at 15 (she had it before her 16 b-day), escp. since her dad pays for it? The hip-hop crowd really is a big promoter of Bling, but they spend it as fast as they earn it. (McHammer anyone?)

PS..coolestkidever, sorry about the Bonds thread and if I questioned you. You seem legimate, and I might of came across as harsh or whatever. Just alot of posers on this board.

I suppose you saw that episode. The saddest thing was that the loser kid on there basically paid some of his female classmates to come to his 16 by buying them clothes and making them promise to come to his 16. Did you even hear what that kid shouted in the Mayback his dad rented to all these people outside? I hated how the dad was always like "You do know whose the one with the money?" everytime his son made a decision. They were both extremely annoying.

I hate MTV sometimes, the channel is so materialistic; everything has to constantly be about big money and flashy lifestyles. Nevertheless, Westworld, I totally agree with everything you said.

I have feeling that MTV is picking up a huge portion of the bill for these 'parties'.
Is drinking Red-bull till you puke really considered fun for these dweebs?

I remember reading a story several years ago about a top AOL exec paying N'Sync (at their height) $1 million to play at his daughter's Bat Mitzvah and hang out with her/her friends for the day.

Do you remember how whiny the dad was? When the son was telling the party planner what he wanted instead of his dad, he ran upstairs acting like a 10 year old child. He was upset that his son was showing him no respect, even though he was supposedly paying and "planning" the party, regardless of the fact they had a party planner. He was talking like a child though, why won't he talk to me, i'm putting up this money, blah blah.

I was just watching this sweet 16 show and the girls dad had a 360. So at least something good was actually aired on the show. Alltogether I she said her dad spent 450,000 fuc king dollars on her party. JESUS FU CKING CHRIST!!! He was also rolling around in a Rolls Royce Phantom and they went to a Mercedes dealership and looked at a Mercedes SLR and she goes if he buys this one I get my car for free. God damnit MTV, god damnit.

If someone was willing to spend that much money on a party for me I would just tell them to buy me a F-40, any future maintance costs, and insurance.

I did see the car. I saw that small part of the epodise, but I had to change it because that chick was just a mean *****. Was he looking at SLR, or was it for her? Did the guy actually seem like a car guy, or just looking for status? How was the dad in that eposide?

I would love to see a parent that doesn't take that Sh$t from their kid and just yell at them on national tv.

I'll admit, my kids are going to know what its like to have money when I'm older and successful. I'll spoil them but at the same time teach them. If they want something, i'll make them work for it. I couldn't be prouder that I bought my own car instead of my mommy and daddy. If my son proves he deserves a certain car, I'll make him pay for atleast half of it.
