I have just finished putting my suspension back together - mostly new parts - and made some total run out measurements halfway out from the hub of the rotor to their outer edge.
    RR 4.5 mils
    LR 6.0 mils
    LF 2.5 mils
    RF 7.0 mils

So I pulled the rotors on the two worst corners and measured at the outermost edge of the hubs - just part the bolt holes
    LR 4.0 mils
    RF 4.5 mils

Based on my math and the location of the measurements - most if not all of the runout is coming from the hubs - not my new Brembo rotors.

So how much run out is too much?

And if I do exceed what is too much - how do I correct it?

    1. Wait and have rotors turned on the car - once it's back on the road of course
    2. I see some very thin shim material from McMaster Carr - other than being a PITA since we have bolts rather than studs - is shimming a very little bit legit?
    3. Do I need to dig in and look at the cause as I have replaced bearings and seals.

    Thanks for any inputs

Art, 5 thousandths or more is too much for brembos. Ideally you want 2 thousandths or less. Yes the runout is usually the hub so clean and clean the hub and mounting surface on the rotor. You also want to measure from the outter edge of the rotor and not the hub. Hub runout is another issue that has to do with bearing float and end float. Lot more work and you would need to do the wheel bearings.

Read my thread here and you will see how I checked for and in one case fixed runout with a shim I made from foil.
