A friend knew a guy who own these cars that was park under a condo parking garage that had a sewage pipe backed up and eventually broke. Just wondering, are these cars close to total and who's responsible, the building association?

If that dirty turdwater got into the interior, I think the insurance company would total them.

I say the owner of the property should pay for it.

These pics were previously posted under a thread about a flood in Singapore (I think - could have been Hong Kong).

For hypothetical purposes, if the "Scenario" was as described, the car insurance would fight the condo insurance which would fight the plumbers insurance which would fight the battle of "someone put something down the sewer" or the "sewer was backed up from the drainage provider" angle, any way, it would take more in legal bills than both of these cars are worth. At this point, a flood is an "Act of God" in the USA and covered as such by the car insurance seeing the cars weren't being driven. That insurance company may subrigate against the buildings insurance provider/builder, but this didn't hasppen here, so......

I live in a condo with an underground parking garage. We had a flood that was very similiar. The water got up to just under the door handles on my cars, a 2006 997s and a 2007 Cayman S. The water came from the Bayou behind my house. It was full of snakes, fish, etc... We now have an alarm system that will wake up everyone in the neighborhood if the water gets high. I'm still not going to store my Ferrari in there permanently though.

The cars were totaled and Gecio had me a check within a few days.

Another resident of the condo also had two Porsches parked very close to mine. A 996 and a mid 80s 911 Targa. The 996 was totaled but the 911, since it is a much simpler car just needed some cleaning up. It's been several years now and he still has the car.
