From the July, 2006 issue of Motor Trend:

"The Fiorano's V-12 is also eight percent lighter than the [575] Maranello's..."

I thought I read somewhere that the 599 GTB's engine weighs 40 pounds less than the 575M's engine.

So is the following info correct?

    575M's engine weight: 500 pounds

    599 GTB's engine weight: 460 pounds (40 pounds equals 8 % of 500).

According to CAR magazine, the Enzo's engine weighs 496lb (225kg).
It's essentially the same engine so where did that 36lb go? (if that's what
    it does weigh).

    Which issue?

Some falsely say the 599 GTB Fiorano's engine is a detuned Enzo engine, but it is actually a retuned Enzo engine.

Where did you get the figure for the 575M's engine weighing 500 pounds?

I think it was Road & Track or some other article that said it was retuned.

No offense but that is hardly an infallible source.

It is no put down to be called a detuned Enzo motor.

Retuned would be factory newspeak from the marketing department.
