It's a pure track car as it was converted for the 1996 Open cup series and even if it was legal for the road, which it is not, it wouldn't be very suitable. All the suspension bushings are metal, clearance, stiff springs/shocks etc.
The first year series, 1995, make a much better choice for road/track but they'd be illegal in the USA as well.

Here's another thread where I posted some pictures:

Look through there. There are a couple of shots on page 1 & 3.

Another candidate for a face off with an F40!

    F40
    displacement 2936cc
    horse power 478
    hp / liter 163
    weight 2976
    lbs / hp 6.14

    early '70's 240Z
    displacement 2393cc
    horse power 430
    hp / liter 180
    weight 2100 (factory 2302)
    lbs / hp 4.88

Impressive but watch out for the Volvo P1800S (above) better power to weight. Not bad for a SOHC two valve inline six.

    '66 P1800S
    displacement 1778cc (OHV)
    horse power 420
    hp / liter 236
    weight 2000
    lbs / hp 4.76

Enjoythemusic and branko list their Euro 308qv’s at 2900 and 2952 pounds wet, with driver. Actual scale weights I assume. The Ferrari website lists the US version at 3225 dry. Is the US version truly +500 pounds heavier? That is an amazing amount of excess ballast!

The Dryweight depends on how it is messured. There are several methods for it depending on the country. In Germany it is calculated like that

Car weight with 90% full fuel tank + 68kg driver + 7kg package = Dryweight in the cars papers. In other countrys i think in the netherlands they use 0% fuel tank or some less and so have much lighter cars on paper but they weight all the same.

Lots of people have non-stock cars in the low 2000 pound range and over 400 HP. Makes me think the Nobel, Atom, etc. should have some staying power.

Well, the US version is heavier, but i don;t think by 500 lbs. Also, not sure what Branko did, though the 308Qv here has had some mods to reduce weight and add durability/performance. Stock engine and tranny, mainly suspension work and changed out seats and belts to proper race versions. STill have AC as the wife insisted and it is a daily driver + track car.

Well in the case of my car it's "listed" as 2,800 lbs. But it doesn't specify dry or wet but what I know is that it's not even close to that (3,020) with a full tank and all of the fluids. It's an 18 gallon tank so I guessed that they meant without fuel? Oh and a 68Kg driver, I'd have to hire one.

A friend of mine owns a scrap yard and I just ran the car up on his scales. You should have seen the workers looking at the 308 on the scales.....they loved it. That was the first time a Ferrari had ever been to that scrap yard.

I have one in my stable that is kinda interesting.

    1987 944S.
    Displacement 5665cc
    Horsepower 597 @ 9 pounds of boost
    HP / liter 104.7
Weight 2631 lbs (and continues to get lighter)
    Lbs / HP 4.40

    Its not acceleration, its violence.

Well that would explain it. So it's not really a Porsche any more or is that a modified 928 motor in there?

Its actually a GM Daytona 24 hour base enduro engine. I am sure you have seen the 24 hour class winners in the last couple of years seem to have PONTIAC printed on the windshields. This engine is one of the same.

I dont really call the car a Porsche anymore. I say "its a Porsche road race chassis, and a GM enduro racing engine"

That sums it up for most who ask.
