How much do you pay for tags each year? Just got my tag for my newly purchased 89 328 & only paid $63.00 & got the +$25 "friend of animals" custom plate. Ok, my Miata was $104.58 & the Datsun 240Z was $24.25. What is wrong w/ this picture?

Here in the state of Washington the tags for my pickup, 240Z, 308 and SUV go between 55.00 and 60.00. Mainly because they are all old and worthless. On the 308 I pay an extra 25.00 to the wildlife preservation fund for my personalized plate.

There was a time when the road use taxes in this state was based on the current estimated value of the vehicles. A new mini-van in the early 90's was runnning close to 600.00 in use tax a year.

The laws have since changed through the passing of the 30.00 license tab legislation of a few years ago.

Check the itemized taxes and levies on your registration. It my give a clue. Based on age of the vehicle maybe?

Here we go by the year of the vehicle... The older the vehicle the less it will cost. It may be the same in your state.

They start w/ purchase price and then depreciate it annually. I'm not sure how they determine their depreciation schedule but it's safe to say it favors the state.
