How much should I pay for the following 1997 F355 Spider:
    triple black color
    US car, CA registered
    6 speed manual
    6800 miles
all service records, NO major belt service performed
literally zero nicks or scratches anywhere (inside or outside), original paint
literally zero dash or leather shrinkage (amazing, but true)
literally zero bolster wear (all original interior)
literally zero front bumper chips, never repainted (always had a lingerie bra)
    tubi exhaust
    challenge grille
Completely original in all respects (except Tubi)
SHOCKINGLY PERFECT CONDITION OVERALL (JUST LIKE NEW)!
You folks are the experts. What should I offer? Thanks! Tim

I think triple black is a tough resale color, even though you like it. Belt service etc $6,000+++. Sounds like a 75 to 80 car to me, max. I have a 1996 355 spider that I will be selling if and when my number comes up on a 430 spider. Maybe my grand kids will get it.

I know that car very well and you can not find a car like that for 75000 to
80000 dollars .maybe a ruff car.
also I think triple black is one of the top wanted color with red and tan or
    silver and black.

Tell them your willing to pay 80 if they do the belt service, (that is if you are).

I agree. You can't find a no stories mint car for 75-80 with 7k miles. The one mentioned at the dealer I would bet has stories. I don't think tripple black is an issue either. Besides red that was my second choice. When I bought mine, I looked at many cars. The cheap ones always had a reason they were cheap. If this car had the 30k I would say 90 if not, I would say no less than 85.

A 97 with that few miles is something I would investigate deeply.

There is no reason a car does not see service for something where the mileage is not recorded. Looks for holes and be suspicious. 355's get the speedos un-hooked commonly.

Look at the inside door opening handles, the brake handle, and the label that is sewn on the seat belt for wear and compare it to other of different mileages for a baseline of what the wear should look like.

The tires should be original and the brakes too.

See where the car was owned previously and see if it has been at any shops in the area that have serviced it that the present owner is not telling you about.

IF it's a mint triple black '97 spider with 6k miles
a car you can eat off of
    up to date fluids etc
    factory cover
    mint leather
    tools, books etc.
    mint tires
    mint rims
    spotless engine bay
unmodified in anyway (in other words, no bling bling crap)
    with tubi

    if it is,
    I'd say it's worth $92,000

With less than 1000 miles per year, this is the classic Ferrari garage queen.

Beware of garage queens. They're only perfect on the outside.

The description of the F355 Spider that you are interested in is very similar to my car, except mine is yellow with a black interior. I have the same mileage, and I think that the Major service is very important to perform on this car, even though the mileage is low. The damages that could happen are drastic and it is very important that you don't get stuck with the bill after buying the car. I personally would not buy this car without the major Belt service completed. It would be fair to pay around $90,000-$92,000 if they perform the service prior to the sale, otherwise, go for a newer model F355 Spider (98-99) and do the service yourself.

Here is a low mileage Ca car with the right color combo without the major service for $79k buy it now. Might be a f-chat member as well since he lives close to Crystal Cove.

Seems like a good price if it only needs belts. I might ad he has been trying a few times to sell it with the last highest bid being $76k.

I think the prices on 355 are continuing to slip a bit more. IMAO. I think the cars become more difficult to finance and insure as they become older. I personaly would not want to loan big money on a 8-9 year old high dollar car for an additonal 5-7 years...thus the lower prices. Cash is King! Not many people have that kind of cash laying around dormant.

To get back on the thread...your black car is worth around the price of this one, and maybe a bit less. Show the seller this auction it may help.

Bottom line. if you like the car and keep it for awhile, what's the difference of a few thousand dollars, it's only money and we can't take it with us! At least that's what I keep telling my wife, as I search for a 360 spider..hehe

    Enjoy life in a Ferrari

I would say car number 1 would be in the 80k range and car number 2 I would bet is the one formerly at Champion in NY that has been hit and had paintwork all over it according to many that had it checked out. It sat there for almost a year before unloading it on someone. If it is that car I wouldn't touch it, if it isn't I would say 105 without service. 110 with

I just bought my '97 355 spider Red/tan with only 3,200 miles. It had the 30k-service, but beyond that it was totally stock. Because I'm in California, we pay top-dollar for f-cars...but because the seller was desperately motivated I got a screamin' deal...I believe I paid about $4k less then what I could sell it for. Let me make a few comments before throwing out a number on your car in question:

Add-on's are questionable in their added value to the car. The challenge grill is solid, it looks good, allows better air-flow...but not everybody likes them. I'd only figure about $400 of added value. The Tubi is popular, but I've met several people who are not happy with the excessive noise and were unhappy with the Tubi to the point of removing them and selling them for about $1,500 on ebay. I would personally only add about $600 for this add-on. If you are unhappy with it, you'd have to find a stock unit and pay a mechanic before cashing it out on ebay.

Triple-black is not a primo choice in colors for resale. It's hot in the summer and the mono-color is bad-ass sports car...but leave a little to be desired in the luxury and sophistication of a more refined exotic. I personally like the color broken-up with the addition of a 2nd color: I passed on the Black/black in favor of the Black/tan...but it's all subjective.

The 30k-service is critical, while it can cost a mere $5,500....it can also go much higher if/when they find other issues. I'd really push the seller to get the 30k done and buy the car already serviced...this to avoid any potential time-bombs and costly discoveries. If they won't get the 30k done, then you really have to ding them $8,000 AND keep your fingers crossed that you won't come out of it the worse when it comes time to turn the wrenches!!

Number time. If it were a Red/tan with the 30k done, it would be worth about $94,000. Deduct 8 for the lack of 30k-service, add 1 for the grill/exhaust, but deduct 2 for the triple-black.

$85,000 OR $93,000 if the service is done

You have to figure-in some serious dingage for the lack of 30k service. Don't fear the "garage queen", it's an over-hyped notion that sellers with higher mileage use to combat lower-mileage cars.

Be pateint and know that you will love you new car and consider it one of the finest investments you've ever made. The term "addiction" doesn't do it justice.

    Hey Eddie...

I thought you told me you sold your Triple-black? To those interested, it's a VERY clean car with all the work done and cared for. Mileage & color are the only things holding it back..I'd say $84k and it'll move.

Fiorano huh? you dog!! that's a toughy. Auto Gallery had that Black/Burgundy with 7k miles, 30k done, prestine for $116k. Add more for your Red/tan color, deduct for lack of 30k service...not sure if your 6-speed makes a difference. I dunno....maybe $110k. Your dingin' for lack of 30k service.

Moderator tells me you've posted things and then deleted them....what's on your mind?

"garage queen"? so a car which has 35,000 miles on it is more preferable than 3,500 because it was driven so it must work? is that the rationale?

admittedly, if a car is stored improperly for a long period of time then its mechanical components will suffer. but extended improper storage is not on the same level as a car which is used sparingly.

a car with low mileage to me shows that the owner used it sparingly as a luxury and cared for it... not that he through it in the back of his garage and left it. it has been my experience that those who put fewer miles on their cars, typically care for their cars equally, if not more, than those which are regularly driven.

i just reluctantly listed my 1999 F355 Fiorano on ferrariads and it has only 6000 miles. i hope that noone looks at that mileage with disinformation in their head and thinks that just because I used my car sparingly, that I somehow directly, or indirectly, neglected my car.

in fact, I only got the belt service because i thought that it would make the car more marketable, since most dealers will perform this service before sale of a car with 3 years under it.

but to immediately be skeptical of car because it has LOW mileage is as characterizing a car which is used sparingly as a "garage queen"

    Eddie....you STOLE that Firorano at 105k!!!!! I'd say it's worth a clean/easy $112k and even $122k with 30k-service!!!

Please trust me when I say this...for a time there, Dave and I were tracking every 355 for sale...and then some!!

Steve; I dont think it was a steal deal, because I see so many 355 for sale and no one is buying them.
for example if you go and check the dupont registry, you will see alot of cars
. been on the add for months.
I think at this point the buyer has a control on the market value, just like you
bought your car with a steal price was due to the supply and demand market.
I also think there is no diffrence between a fiorano and a regular one.when
you drive them on the street, most people dont know the diffrence in looks
and I dont even know or can tell their diffrence in performance.
