I am just a fan and not much of an engineer. How much of this years trouble is due to inferior rubber? If a lot, how does it bode for next year? Is it the car?

Man, I am too used to winning.

I think it is a little bit of both. Bridgestone does not have as much test data as Michelin does, but on the other hand it is Ferrari giving Bridgestone most of the data so they can design the tires to Ferrari's needs.

On the Chassis side i am not 100% sure what the issues are but more than likely it is a combination of suspension geometry, damper settings causing mechanical grip issues. Also the Aero solution does not look as optimised as some of the other teams at the front. Also the engine might be lacking a bit in the HP dept it has the reliability part of the formula correct though.

It seems like the Ferraris are 1) especially slow compared to R and McL coming out of slow corners 2) are lacking top end, not by much but it seemed Button was gaining a bit on MS every long straight when he was chasing. Last year it did not seem like that was true. Do you think the other teams improved their set up that much or did Ferrari drop the ball somehow?
It was pretty sad seeing how much faster most of the leaders were than MS, especially toward the end. I think RS would also have passed if he had another lap or two.

Good story. Interesting MS fastest lap was number 18 while JPM fastest lap was number 47.

Hmmm very interesting indeed. Perhaps it had to do with the fact that JPM was in traffic a lot of the race?

I think they have a problem putting the power down in general. They might be lacking top end but the Honda engine is pretty strong and has good speed trap numbers. RS would never have passed his brother. As a matter of fact i don't recall him ever passing MS in a straight fight, does anyone else?

Me neither - If I recall correctly, he has only passed him in the pits but never on the race track. Michael has passed him a couple times on track - I believe Spain 2003 when he pressured Ralf into mistakes after the 180 corner in sector 1
