Yes... Only if the following add-ons are met: 1) You can your "assistant/publicist" are driving down rodeo drive and the person in the passenger seat is not grabbing for the "oh ****" handle... 2) You are looking at your phone while driving the car at well under the speed limit checking to see how you're trending 3) You dont know the model number of the car you're driving (458 or italia is OK response), you only know its "A Ferrari". 4) You dont know how to drive it, or the driving mode is never changed, in the car registered to you.
It's been quite a while that we've seen something so insulting to others posted here. Congratulations.
Oh, I don't know. Maybe you don't read enough? I see all manner of comments almost daily telling people they aren't good enough for a Ferrari because they don't use it correctly.
I fail to see the humor. Saying it was a joke is a lame excuse for the mistake of posting it originally.
Remember if you don't fit into a category you can explain why, per the original premise of the first post. Nobody is necessarily on the hook for anything.
Sure, someone will always be offended by something But I've been all 4 categories before, to some extent, more or less. So I have just offended myself I've paraded around my material objects to impress peers, I've had low self-esteem and compensated for it materialistically, I've acted like a shallow dooshbag, I've been an edgy snob with a chip on my shoulder, and I've been level-headed, calm, cool, confident, with nothing to prove. Self-acceptance is the path to recovery, friend
Problem is the categories are based on the type of gearbox in your car. It's like posting a poll structured like this: Are you a... 1. Curmudgeonly luddite: Does your car have three pedals and gear lever? 2. Informed, modern enthusiast: Does your car have the best and latest gearbox technology?
appears the only thing common to the catagories of poseurs described is that wearing of an A$$hat is maniditory and little to do with anyone having or driving an F car
A manual transmission is like a vagina: every guy says he wants it, few guys know how to use it properly. Also, I'm number four, made worse by the fact that I don't have a Ferrari.
Yes, point is well-taken Remember, the last thing I said in the OP was: "You can answer with a simple "3" or "1" and/or explain yourself. If you don't fit the categories then you can say why." To my knowledge, based on being in the car culture for years and being on f-chat for a few of those years, the transitionary period (which we are still undergoing) from 3-pedal cars to paddle cars has riled the car culture into a polarity. Some drivers, of course, are ok with anything--3-pedal or paddles. And that has been taken into account in the OP. Yet many car guys actually detest and HATE paddles and the new (and often experience-numbing) "lightning fast DSG transmissions." Jay Leno fits this category. And he is an authority on cars. Using him as an exhibit, if Leno hates paddles (or generally dislikes them) then what are you going to say about that--that he is a clueless lout? You can't. He drives more cars in one year, of all types, than most could ever drive if they were allowed to live for two thousand years. He is publicly vocal about how he dislikes where cars are headed today. And he is a true enthusiast "beyond the beyond." I would say he is a "4" but with the temperament of a "3" (a "4 light"). Let's just face it: Liking 3-pedal manual sports cars doesn't make you a "luddite" by any means. It says a lot about your personality--that typically you are one who appreciates subtlety, finer things, and raw emotion and a complete physical immersion of the drive over technological gimmickry for its own sake. PDKs, DSGs--are all preludes to self-driven cars--a removal of humanity from driving. I feel my "4" coming on now!
You're very observant and read the OP very carefully +1 you get a cookie. Replace "Ferrari" with whatever materialistic indulgence you wish.
I've never driven a car and wondered what Jay Leno might thing of it. Some people on this forum must be very insecure. Seems there are ones who are worried what others think and then there are ones that feel the need to tell people how great there car is and how wonderfully they use it compared to others.
No offense to Jay, but why is he more of an enthusiast than someone who buys a brand new 911 GT3 RS with a PDK box and takes it to the track? Technologies that genuinely make a car faster and more efficient are the opposite of poseur-ish. One could argue that driving an old school stick shift (as I do, on weekends) is poseur-ish because it's about deliberately buying a car with lower performance capabilities for the sake of tradition.
Because Jay Leno is a world renown authority on cars on myriad levels. Sure, I can have a go kart and be an enthusiast as big as the sky is wide. But Leno's word is an authority to major cultural agencies and entities. I will tend to listen to Jay more than the weekend warrior with one 911 with a PDK--especially since the PDK is not what I am looking for. Are they? Many have complained, such as Chris Harris--another authority on cars as a famous driver/journalist--that DSGs are numbing gimmicks that remove the tactility from the drive. That is one reason why he sold his 599. To add, lots of housewives and softening men describe their affinity for paddles versus 3-pedal cars. Mind you, Jeremy Clarkson concurs: paddles are great for track times at 9/10s or 10/10ths. But who actually does that? Almost no one except for F1 drivers and the like. Paddles are an F1 adaptive technology sold as gimmicks to consumers.
How about a category for just a car guy that found the 355 fun to drive - all the other baggage can go.
All that really says is Leno is old. Just like the guys who think big-block classic muscle cars are better and more fun than anything produced today. I'm sure Leno also prefers older music. So what?
Yes point is taken but per above, RE: Chris Harris. He's quite younger. Leno, however, is at the very top of the food chain of being an authority on car culture. He isn't the only one, but is one of the largest voices in modern car culture presently. He has driven more cars, from all eras, than anyone here in all likelihood.
Except Leno also has Mclaren P1, its just that he would prefer his car stick. Nothing to do with age, everything to do with driving as recreational pleasure, wheing tactlity and engagement are major componanants. Chris Harris BTW is young and considdered by many to be the authrority on what makesa fun driving street car. Faster on paper is not always better, if it was who would buy Ducati. Its not just how fast you go, but also how you go fast. Considder that back in the day the F50 was paned for not being good looking. Yet today i would much rather drive a F50 over an enzo or laferrari. The F50 has plenty of tech, including a CF tub, but that tech does not get in the way of the driving experience, so its still a manual without driving aids. Look at f50 prices, despite the looks.
Ooops! Someone must have talk someone else wife, for shure! Lol! This thread will end up with some being banned!
